1. Time block your start and end times (ie 15 - 30-minute planning and note-taking time) 2. Time block your reoccurring tasks 3. Time block your planning time - 30 - 60 minute a week for time blocking 4. Time block time for big projects (2-4 hours in mornings) 5. Time block meetings (afternoons Thursdays / Fridays as less energy) 6. Change time blocks at end of the day to reflect what actually happened so time blocking improves over time

Yes yes yes! Time blocking is my absolute jam. I've done a few videos on it myself. In my most recent blog I decided to address how to STICK WITH IT, because it's fun to plan, but takes a bit of discipline to maintain at first. You did a great job with simplifying the process with this video! 🙌

Great guidance. Love the added insight to go back at the end of each day or end of week to adjust how much time was actually spent during the blocked times. Great way to have a reality check. Thanks for your guidance.

Jason, what do you think? should we split up the day time into 2 blocks first: personal tasks / business related tasks?
@JasonAWhaling

On a macro level - Yes that's a good way to do it. Personally, I'd do the business tasks first, then personal

I understand why you're blocking time but you're doing and talking about it so fast that we can't quite see exactly HOW you are doing it. Can you please make another video and explain (more slowly, please) what it is that you're doing with the calendar?
@JasonAWhaling

Thank you for the feedback on the video. It will help me improve in the future 🙏 This other Time blocking video is much slower and might be more helpful. It's specifically designed for entrepreneurs, but I do take more time outlining how I personally create my time blocks...... Time Blocking Strategy: kzitem.info/news/bejne/pphqm2GraXiUi6g

How do you prevent calendar conflicts? For example, blocking just allocates anticipated time for tasks, and for this example let's say it's "afternoon meetings." If we use scheduling software (I use Calendly), then a person my want to schedule a meeting that to Calendly "appears" to conflict with a blocked time, and so they can't (or if they can it creates multiple simultaneous meetings). How do you manage this?
@JasonAWhaling
3 жыл бұрын
Good question! So in that instance if Calendly is directly connected to your work calendar the block you put for meetings should be set to "Free" instead of busy. Personally when I used Book like a boss, I had the bookings on a separate calendar and set the appointment slots to match the time I'd blocked off. It was extra work, but it kept me sane. Hope that helps!

I am in real estate and I found the biggest challenge with my time blocking is clients appointments that come "unpredictable", for example, just as I was thinking to time block M W F mornings to do my "one thing", I need to meet with buyers with the loan officer at 10am on Friday, which then throw off my time blocking! please advise! Blessings, Debbie

You could adjust your time block and postpone it? Ideally you shouldnt block out whole days because of these unexpected meetings that can occur.
