I played the recessed light game for a while with those big housings vibrating. Padding, foam, electrical tape, etc. Could never get rid of it all. Finally just went at it one day and pulled those suckers out through the cut outs. A cat's paw, a hammer, a good pair of snips, and a pair of diagonal cutters all paired with some patience and diligence. Took maybe two and half hours but got all 6 of them out of there and replaced them with can-less lights.

Yep. My plan to change the trims already failed. I'll explain in upcoming content. I can't wait to rip this room down to the studs and do it all over again. :)

@@Techthusiasm yea, I did my first version similar to yours. Didn’t have all the knowledge I thought I did when the house was built and was constantly tweaking and adding stuff: curtains, cable tracks, trim, velvet, and other stuff. Finally I realized the only way I was gonna get the room I really wanted was to tear it down and build it from the ground up with a full plan in place. It was 4 months of DIY hell every single day but so worth it in the end. The way I see it, anyone can buy gear and put a home theater together, but it’s the space that really makes it special. Looking forward to see what you’re gonna put together.

Yep, I have a pretty decent plan I think for the next few years what I want to do in my spaces. I just need the channel to grow to fund it all! :)

The room looks great… I’m interested in a comparison between the sb16 and the Arendal subs.

Thanks! I think it's time for an updated tour video. Comparison discussion will be coming.

Jeremy, why did you go with the SBs versus the PBs? Just curious. I love my dual SBs but didn’t think the increase in costs warranted the PBs. Although they’d be nice 😊

I already two sealed subs that the SVS were integrating with, and it's not wise to mix sealed and ported. I think, in general, I prefer the pros of a sealed sub over the pros of a ported model as well.

Wouldn’t it be better to place the SVS subwoofers at the back instead of near the screen in front? And move the ones at the back upfront? This way you don’t have the distracting blue screen light of the subwoofer in the front while watching the movie. Just a thought!

The light doesn't have to be on all the time. For sure, I wouldn't want that light on up front. I have them set so the light comes on for like 10 seconds when they power/wake up, then goes off. The rationale to have the SVS up front and Arendal is back is based on the likelihood that the SVS have overall higher output, so put the lower output subs closer to maximize their volume. We'll see if that's true soon with measurements.

What fabric are you using to cover the wire runs and how do you attach it to your wall. I'm considering doing something similar in my room.
@Techthusiasm

It's a general velvet like fabric. I don't know the specifics. The seamstress I hired to make the curtains provided the material. It's attached the wall with velcro. There's a velcro strip sewed onto the back of the curtain. Then I mounted black painted lumber on the wall and stuck the other side of the velcro to that wood. Then just zip the curtains up along the velcro.

Why did u place the rear subs facing each other instead of forward
@Techthusiasm

The rear subs are dual opposing drivers with a driver on each side.

I’m more interested in the Bass quality of the 16s vs the Arendals. After a listen test would you still buy the Arendals over the SVS?👴🏽

We'll see! Audioholics just published a review of the 1723 2S and loved them. They actually discussed a comparison of the Arendal to the SB16 at the end of the review.

Better hope your house isn't sitting atop an abandoned mine or you may wake up one morning 6' under.
