Towers nearest Your base should probably be set to 'near death', so that You can kill *some* of the stragglers, instead of aiming at a full-health enemy in front that will reach Your base anyways, & then switching to the next enemy that is only half a second away after it makes it there

I think you can set multiple priorities can’t you. So for mortar, most armor, then most health.

Unfortunately it's not sequential like "most armor then most health" it's additive so it would target the enemy who has "the most armor AND the most health" so if an enemy had a tiny amount of health and a ton of armor then the towers would skip it for something more balanced.

@wingchangwow are you completely positive about that? I could be wrong, but I think if you have the 3 options as 1. Most Shield 2. Most Armor 3. Usually leaves it as progress.. It would target who ever has the most shield first, if no enemies within range have Shield, it targets the one with the most Armor, and then if no enemies within range have armor it targets the one with the most progress instead of it targeting whichever one has the most shield or Armor that has the most progress. It doesn't really make sense for it to target the enemy that has all 3 options, if that's how it worked it would constantly target the closest 25% of the enemy line to the tower. If it takes all options then you have to account for the 3rd option that's always left at progress. It makes more sense to target 1. Then if none in range, target 2. Then if none in range target 3. But I could absolutely be100% wrong, and this is just my personal opinion given the actions of the weapons.

You already get upgrades every third round (not every fifth). What I think this game actually needs is for you to start with multiple tower types already unlocked, one of each type, so you cannot get screwed over by RNG that hard.

Just starting with an upgrade before the first wave would offset some of the problems I think. It would help you start and could potentially give you a tower or a ballista upgrade. It could even be an upgrade called "Starting draw" or something.

It looks like if you keep the splits the same length after a split, the enemies all get to the split at the same time and converge into a larger group that's harder to deal with. So it might be a good idea to make sure all the paths after a split are always different lengths.

Mechanics thing: With the yellow cards their draw pools are based on a progression system first it draws from a general pool which includes the items from the bottom left like the haunted house and such + the unlocked towers. Then for each tower you have, it expands the draw pool to include the tier 1 upgrades for the currently owned towers that have been unlocked. So to reduce clutter you could upgrade towers in their progression line since they would only be considered 1 card added to the pool rather than multiple.

I rather think the Tesla Tower looked quite fine. It is probably really good at softening up large amounts of predamaged mooks close to your tower. Probably does really benefit from a hightened position. I think the reason the first game went so well is that you managed to loop your bath back a lot, which meant that the last defensive towers could get salvos in early as well.

Poison sprayers work best after the first boss, when units with shield(what it's strong against) start showing up. Later game versions of flamethrowers.

Try to position your towers so that they cover as much of the path as possible, a tower that cover two paths at the same time is twice as valuable. Take note of the circles, a lot of your towers are in positions where they really can’t fire effectively for long, if you look at the final stretch to the tower on the last run for example, none of the towers had any reason to be on the north side of the path, mowing the ballistas away so that the base is right at the edge of their range would let them start fireing at effectively twice the range, and try to put Tesla coils with their low range at corners so that they can cover as much ground as possible At some spots you have houses lodged between two roads, those would be AMAZING to put down four towers around!

For the poison spray, prioritise enemies in the back of the line (furthest from tower). And for the balistas near the tower, prioritise least health.

I think the tesla tower looks unimpressive because it seems to be aoe chip damage. Which is way less visible than the mortars that are aoe but deliver their damage in large but slow explosions.

Once you get a few more upgrades it's not a major issue. You're supposed to lose early the first several attempts and gradually get stronger and stronger.

Tesla looks like it is short range AOE. You normally want them further from the tower and on those U shaped jogs in the path. That way the creeps have to do almost a complete circle in their AoE and get hit 4-5 times. Having it late on a straight segment means maybe 2 hits on already weakened and thinned enemies.

You should always target the dot towers to focus on their main type, fire should target armour and poison should target shield. Don't forget the tower also does damage too, not just the dot. The poison is purely there to stop the shield regen.

@@nevermore7285 He should be getting 1 or 2 cheap upgrades paticularly towards the type of damage he wants to specialize in and then let XP boost it from there as well as concentrating more firepower towards a single kill lane

The challenge in TD games where towers level up via damage done is that your later towers get XP starved and are eventually useless when the creeps break through the front towers. This game exacerbates that because the paths lengthen through play so your front towers in the early game become your later towers. So you have to strike a balance of new towers up front, while improving your back towers as well.

A good solution for the bad starting branched paths. If the Dev's only allow branched paths after a certain amount of upgrades, then that would take out the rng. Maybe have a difficulty slider allowing you to choose when branching paths start to occur vs more gold or something too

I kind of dislike how the game lets you split at the first expansion. Like it to me it is essentially it bumping up the difficulty from easy to medium without you having any control. I am not saying a split should never happen on single path as that probably has balance ramifications that I am not qualified to speak on, but I feel it would not be hard for the game to put in a check to where you cannot get the split in the first x expansions that would make this feel less like the rng is screwing you.

Height expands a tower's range. Tesla towers are a lot better on high ground where the path makes a circular loop. A tesla tower on a +3 hill can hit pretty much the entire square it's on and it has a pretty fast rate of fire, but I don't think has great damage, so you really want it hitting as many enemies as many times as possible to get the most mileage out of it.
