After watching a number of your tutorials, I can now see the stages you go through in your paintings. It's the same as any other art form. Get something on the canvas, composition, blocking in, values and detail. I finally found a great product in Australia to seal my canvas and spent Sunday afternoon preparing a bunch. I'm really enjoying working with alcohol inks and your tutorials make it so easy to learn. Thank you.

@AskariArt

+Manu gribouille thank you. Canvas is what old artists use to make oil paintings I make a frame and stretch across the canvas on the frame. I have a video shows you how to do this called "stretch it" it's the same process.

beautiful!! can you explain in one of your tips and tricks how to avoid getting fingers, unless you want them, please.
@AskariArt
4 жыл бұрын
+Johanna Crites yea typically fingers happen when you are using too much air and it's pushing the ink too fast. You can remove them by either using a brush dabbed in alcohol or you can pour more alcohol in that area and run the blower on a slower speed. I demonstrate this on one of my painting demos. I just can't remember which one.

Did you have to apply some sort of coating to the canvas prior to applying Alcohol inks? I’ve always thought Alcohol inks only work on non porous surfaces. This is a game changer! I’ve worked with acrylics before but too expensive and since I travel full time, Alcohol inks supplies are a lot easier to carry around.

Thank you, I have a video (kzitem.info/news/bejne/x5qEuJ6kf6xkkno) what I use and how I do it. Kilz2 water-based, sand in-between 2 coats. If you want game changer watch this lol: (kzitem.info/news/bejne/z4mrwHyKkn6Km2k) I've figured out how to seal any fabric and leave the original color of the fabric while still allowing you to do alcohol ink (I use linen as the example) I share everything to help and teach others.

I received your name from a Facebook post recommendation and I am really glad I did. Thank you very much for sharing and explaining (I need to know why so much more than I need to learn how - lol.) I have a question for you if you happen to know. I have some canvas panels - no idea of the quality - but was wondering if the kiltz would work on them for AI. I don't know if the canvas has to be stretched for this to work.
@AskariArt

I would use a Kilz2 water-based. Are the panels stretched panels? Are they not stretched on the panels?

Askari Art yea, Kilz works great. I like the oil based spray best. Thanks
@AskariArt

I wouldn't use oil based kilz. Oil based paints in general yellow after 2-5 years time. Unfortunately Kilz does as well. That's why I stick with water-based because of the yellowing over time.

Love your work especially on canvas! You are a patient instructor and generous with your tutorials. I'm new to AI and have used plastic sheets with great success. Been trying canvas but it has been unsuccessful. Have done Kilz and Gesso with sanding in between coats but still not working. Any other suggestions? Would greatly appreciate your feedback! Thanks so much!

What type of alcohol are you using when working on canvas?
@vestarexpressions9909
4 жыл бұрын
@@AskariArtThanks for replying. I use only 99%. The ink just won't move as well. Could it be I'm not using enough alcohol?
@AskariArt
4 жыл бұрын
That could be. Once you add alcohol it should allow you to move the ink. Make sure your blower isn't on hot. See if that helps. If you are applying kilz2 it should work. Are you using kilz or Kilz2 water-based?
