Time lapse of mung bean germination process. Took about 3 and half days. Music: Chrono Trigger - Town Life in Piano by kLuTz OverClocked ReMix (www.ocremix.org)
Sometimes it's hard to imagine that plants are alive, but time lapse videos always put things into perspective.

I am adding this to my video collection for sharing timelines to my second graders and of course germination...right before I teach germination. I adore this, and appreciate your time, effort, and selflessness in sharing for all. Grateful 2nd grade teacher.

Plant some of your bean sprouts. Save the hulls and don't be tempted to pick them off the sprouts. whilst acting as a shield, they contain nutrients that the living germ uses to develop. dispose of these in your garden, not the trash.

I'd plant them atop of soil in trays, sprinkle around 1/8th inch soil and keep moist with sprayer bottle. I use saran wrap(cling-film) over the pots to keep in heat and moisture. This is just for demonstration. you should avoid planting on towels unless you're really eager to see it sprout. The tiny traces of bleach etc in white towels is absorbed and stunts its growth. Look up a nutrient called Superthrive, you use it 1 drop per gallon to speed up sprouting and has many other uses.
