What a song about wasted youth!! When I first heard this song I was in my 20's and thought I would never get old. Now I'm old (73) and look back at all the wasted years and missed opportunities. Now I look forward to my recliner, ear buds and live vicariously through reactors like you and relive that first moment I heard this tune. It makes me feel happy and sad at the same time and it only took 50 plus years to realize it...

The line 'then 10 years have passed you by' almost made me break out into tears. I think we can all relate. PF has created a library of intensely moving songs that are as important today as they were in the 70s. As a 57 year old, this was ahead of my time, but now that I'm diving deep into their 'big 4' albums, I'm too excited! They have put into words, the feelings I (and many others) have experienced... thanks again for sitting back and enjoying the channel. More PF on the way.

The older you get the harder this song hits!! I really think it's one of the most poetic powerful beautiful songs about time and not wasting it! David Gilmour the guitarist and lead vocalist who makes that guitar sing and cry! Roger Waters lyrics the bassist is second to none in writing lyrics! And you have Rick Wright who passed away in 2008 on the keyboards who is the glue that holds the music together and then you have Nick Mason the drummer who is unconventional and perfect for this group! You just tripped into a bottomless rabbit hole with Pink Floyd! The songs from their biggest selling album Dark Side of the Moon which still sells 8 to 10,000 copies a week worldwide and came out in 1973. Sounds like it was recorded yesterday!

I couldn't agree with you more. It's as if they all came out of the womb together with instruments in hand. The brilliance and synergy of this band is shocking. Still selling 8-10k today is surprising at first glance, but really not surprising. Quality is quality regardless of when that quality launched. Caught Nick Mason and Stewart Copeland on an episode of Top Gear or its follow up show GT - and while Stewart was constantly interrupting and trying too hard to one-up Mason, Mason was as cool as his drumming and comported himself with a quiet confidence, much like his drumming style. David Gilmour? My god, what a talent!

Really enjoying your reactions. To paraphrase Waters, he said that when he was young he saw life and "the future" as this nebulous thing he was preparing for. And one day it clicked. Life is NOW. ... And the last line: "Thought I'd (get) something more to say." It's the unspoken "get" that holds Roger's meaning. You always think there will be more time. Speak now.

Think of their ages when they produced this album. So wise at such a young age. They play slowly with such perfect timing and co-ordination, and that is so difficult and you can't hide any mistakes at that pace and they didn't make any. The pace of their music also allows your brain to fill in the spaces and become part of the music.

In my early 30s now, I definitely understand why people say this song means more to you as you get older. I honestly feel 80% the same as when I was in my early 20s - I'm still the same person, relatively speaking. But I'm 20% different. In another 10 years, maybe I'll be another 20% different. Maybe by the time I'm at the end of my life, I won't recognize myself. I don't know.

I hear you. Very honest. Counterpoint: Aging needn’t be a burden whatsoever. I’m convinced it is time to start focusing on the upside instead. When we point out the negatives of aging without the benefits, we tell ourselves that the best part of life is over. My experiences so far don’t even come close to that being true. Now at over 50, my life is at a wonderful place physically, mentally and emotionally. This song is really a warning sign 🪧

If you're into hard rock music, check out the Brazilian band "Dr. Sin" start with their debut 1993 album. Absolutely incredible guitar work and great vocals, lots of funk in their sound but a lot of 80s style hard rock. They were a São Paulo based band. For whatever reason despite singing in perfect english, they are virtually unknown outside Brazil.

The album "Dark Side Of The Moon" revolves around a central theme that binds each of the songs and which is: (What drives people crazy). (BREATHE); If the performance required in life can drive people crazy. (ON THE RUN); If the frantic rush of life can drive people crazy. (TIME); If the fleeting aspect of passing time can drive people crazy. (THE GREAT GIG IN THE SKY); If the thought of the inevitable end (death), can drive people crazy. (MONEY); If love, or lack of money can drive people crazy. (US AND THEM); If the abusive hierarchy between color, power or wealth between US AND THEM can drive people crazy. (ANY COLOR YOU LIKE); If the illusion of being able to choose can drive people crazy. (BRAIN DAMAGE); If the fear of losing their mind can drive people crazy. (ECLIPSE); If the fact that our life seems to be limited to, (All that you touch - And all that you see...) can drive people crazy. So, we can conclude that even the brightness of the sun may be eclipsed by the Dark Side of the Moon.

This was on Dark Side of The Moon considered by many to be one of the greatest if not the greatest albums ever made. It sold 45 million copies 15 million more than The Wall. You are probably into heavy metal and The Wall was a much heavier Floyd album. That surely doesn't make it their biggest or their best.

As a fan of countless bands and various music genre I could never pick my top 10 bands or albums. However, I can say with confidence that Pink Floyd and their album Dark Side Of The Moon would be on those lists. You do yourself a disservice by not immediately listening to the next track 'Great Gig In The Sky' as the two songs are woven together. Great understanding you have for this as age will often do that. That said, I'll offer you this gift of music genius,,,, 'The Claypool Lennon Delirium - Southbound Pachyderm | Live at House of Blues' vid on KZitem. david gilmour is underrated? Excuse me? Every real guitarist have em in his personal top 10 expect the heavy dudes... nah, dont panic he is known as one of the best guitarists ever - but he is a quite lovely dude who does not announce anything about his skills. He once said "i speak through my guitar, i cant sing. Why Guitar? Well, it can be all - rhythm, groove, lead, its like a piano. But very much easier..." he truely is a genius and compared to roger very silent about success... maybe thats why ppl might think that but again, he is not underrated at all :)

Yes, he emanates good character whereas Rogers has gone all-in using his platform for political narratives. Gene Simmons recently commented about this on Piers Morgan. When I talk great guitarists, with non-musicians, I’m usually faced with names like Jeff Beck, Jimmy Hendrix, Jimmy Page et al.
