When it's on audio instead of sampler you can use pitch which is tied to the pitch wheel and do automation with the Tune & Pitch on stretch mode. Then you can automate with host or midi using what looks like eject button but is automation button. And to get the key rang to play notes up and down the keyboard use Gate instead of loop.

This is very helpful. Thanks. But what we “need to tell” is Native Instruments to stop needing us “to tell” Maschine all this information Maschine already knows. How they have not fixed this in all these years should be reported to the hip-hop sampling tribunal and NI should be brought up on charges of preventing fire beat creation preventing stank face head nodding and sanctions should be imposed for causing us to waste time on a task that every other PROPER hip-hip tool just does!!! But I could be wrong. 😂
@nickgilday8946

I hear you man. I LOVE my maschine, but the built in time stretch stuff is frustrating. They have all the tech to make it such an easy/dope process with the capabilities of the audio unit and sample time stretch - it really COULD be just like serato. But for some reason Audio unit can only loop, and you can't really chop it. Sampler gives so much control when time stretching that it just gets confusing. Honestly I think they just overthought it - want to give maximum ability to manipulate sounds and just kind of forgot that time stretching should be a one knob process. Just let us chop the Audio unit NI!
@nickgilday8946
3 жыл бұрын
Or one touch resampling... use the audio unit to get stretch and pitch you want, then quickly convert to sampler keeping all those changes. I could mess with that too. It's annoying to time and pitch the whole sample and then resample, then make chops only to find out that the pitch needs to be changed on the back end haha. I guess little alter boy can fix that too though.

@@jkq2006 I hear ya. There's gotta be a reason for it because it seems like its a pretty simple fix - cuz they DO have the tech already. I wonder if it has something to do with different genre's of music. I make hip hop beats, but wondering if different genres would have a reason to want all that complication, and thus, Maschine would be the only box with those features built in.

Shane it isn’t like serato sample where you import a loop and it automatically stretches it in time according to the tempo. For example after time stretching to 86bpm you might decide to go up to 90bpm but then you need to stretch the loop again. I wish it did it automatically.

Good tutorial but I take exception with two things: 1) The tempo of the original song "Theme From The Planets" by Dexter Wanzel was originally around 80 BPM, so if you want a slower version just sample the original. 2) The version of the beat that you are using was originally sourced from the Ultimate Breaks & Beats compilation series, specifically volume SBR510. It was sped up purposely so that EMCEEs could spit rhymes to it (see WhoSampled for a list of some of the artists who used it). If you didn't know, UBB is part of the original canon of breakbeats in Hip Hop culture. The foundation of this culture was built on the breakbeats. It doesn't get anymore Hip Hop than that!! Whatever you consider HIP HOP to be TODAY, or in any alternate reality, wouldn't even exist had it not been for the breakbeats. And certainly your KZitem channel nor your creative pursuits in this space would exist either. Do the knowledge and educate yourself before making declarations about what is or isn't Hip Hop. One!!
@nickgilday8946
3 жыл бұрын
Ehhhhhhhhh - take that elsewhere man. Dude is going out of his way to try and show a tutorial to make life easier for maschine users and your out here nitpicking literally one sentence, that has nothing to do with the actual purpose of the tutorial. He wasn't making a hip hop history break beat video, so stick to the subject at hand and give the man the respect he deserves for pushing out content on a regular basis. That and if YOU REALLY want to get down to it - the beauty if Hip Hop is that anything can be hip hop. It's tasters choice. He just happens to like that break slower, and that is hip hop to him. No big deal.
@FizzENT
3 жыл бұрын
I appreciate the history lesson and by no means is this channel presented to be scholarly information on HipHop/Rap break beats. The loop i chose to use felt too fast for hiphop, thats my opinion, so i have no argument here. If i had sped the loop up to 150 bpm does it still make it hiphop because its a break beat or would we be touching the genre of Drum and Bass🤔

My ridiculous rant below aside, I suppose this works with melodic samples just as well, but doing that 16 times is a bit tedious. Would you happen to know a quicker way to pitch tune chromatically(or otherwise) across all the pads?
@nickgilday8946
3 жыл бұрын
Would the select all feature do the trick? Assuming the group is just your sample chops you can use the select all feature and any changes you make to one sample should be universal to all pads in the group.
@WrvrUgoThrUR

@@nickgilday8946 I’ve pitched shifted samples across all 16 pads manually, but there’s a millisecond delay between the time you hit the pad until your hear the sound. A millisecond is forever when it comes to music.
