"Jesus Made Me Higher" brought me here. Thank You for posting this! An Ohio singer by the name of James A Roth made a record in the '70s that includes a cover of "Jesus Made Me Higher." Recently, I bought the only copy of that album I could find to replace my worn-out record, and re-connected with that song. Than I learned that it first appeared on this album. Now I enjoy the Imperials' own version, too. Uplift!

That is going back quite a few years back when The Imperials were southern gospel music 🎶 (SGM) they were the pioneers of contemporary Christian music 🎵 (CCM).

This was the album where they were changing alot. They were about to leave Elvis, and there was a change with Greg Gordon leaving and Sherman Andrus coming in. If I remember correctly, there is a song or two on here where Sherman actually was singing with them.

@kennypayne9259 Sherman is not on any of these songs. However, Greg Gordon was on two songs on the first studio LP with Sherman.

Very common back then for personnel changes not to coordinate with album covers or voices on the recording. This is an excellent album, well arranged and very current edgy material for the era. Imperials (my opinion) tried very hard to distance themselves from the Elvis years. It was never mentioned at concerts or articles, etc. It wasn’t until the last 15-20 years that they seemed to embrace those years.

Was not familiar with this release, and anything prior, by the Imperials. Demonstrates how different the music industry was back then. Does not really seem that there was a separation between "religious" and "non-religious" music as there is today. Thanks for sharing!
