Hey Hyram, the lovely lady in the first routine is actually using a product called Frownies which are forehead wrinkle patches. They work as an alternative to Botox by re-training the muscles so you can’t furrow your brow. I would actually love to know more about what you think about them, overall, the ingredients and the adhesive, removal process, etc.!

At 39 I am still trying to deal with appreciating my natural skin tone. I was horribly bullied and so tried to be as pale as I could be, grew up to have children much paler than me, to now be trying to embrace how dark I naturally am has been a very emotional journey. I literally broke down finding my actual makeup shade in a store. You never know what people are trying to overcome.

just wanted to share a tip for removing mascara: close your eyes and rub (gently!!!) a bit of vaseline on them especially on your lashes. then get a wet cloth/cotton round/q-tip and take the Vaseline off. works like a charm, even on waterproof mascara!!! plus it's gentle and hydrating. I never realized people didn't know this trick, lol.

I truly don't understand why mascara removers are not more popular. It makes it so much easier, even on waterproof mascara, and you don't have to rub your eyes like crazy if you don't have the patience to soak a cotton pad in eye-makeup remover and let it sit for like half an hour.

@@Hyram Yes! To be fair I've only seen them sold on asian websites like Yesstyle, and almost no skincare influencer talk about them so that may be why they're not more popular. I haven't gone back since I've got them.

I'm just curious and I could be missing a detail/ignorant around this discussion: why would it hurt someone else to get a significantly darker tan if you're not trying to look like a different race? The girl in the video didn't look like another race, she was orange... She needed a better undertone and she wasn't fooling anyone about her race. If she was trying to fool someone, she's failing. If she likes looking orange, cool more power to her in her tangerine dreams 🍊. Maybe orange is her favorite color. Idgaf If it's not black face (mocking black people for being black) or black/Asian fishing, I feel like there are situations where it could be ok. I could be wrong and idk. I'm mixed and am white passing. If I tanned I would get really dark and look like my dad. Heck I might even be discriminated against if I consistently tanned that way because I look like him. It sucks that he has to go through that and I've been deeply affected having to see him go through that. I have a deep empathy towards people who have been affected by racism because I've experienced it second hand. I am privileged that I haven't been through the kind of institutionalized racism he's gone through first hand and I acknowledge that privilege. Would it be wrong for me to tan really dark, though? I guess I could try not to tan but.... How does that help dismantle racism? Is that just to not flaunt being white? That's like saying a rich person shouldn't buy nice things as to not taunt poor people. It's a complicated discussion... People can't control being white or the fact that tanning is a beauty standard in western society. Sometimes people tan on accident... It would be wrong to purposefully rub it in someones face that you're white and they're not as a taunt. I guess it's just odd to direct that anger towards someone when that person isn't being racist. The fact that people treat her better than you while having the same skin color is racist. The other people are being racist in that scenario and not her if she's not in on it and is just tanning to look like she went on vacation: which is why tanning became a beauty standard in the west for white people. Because it showed you had money to go on holiday at a sunny place and lay around and do nothing as to tan. Blame Coco Chanel. Should we all just protest tanning as a beauty standard in solidarity with POC because they can't get the same social advantages? Interesting discussion and idk the answers
@KZKonradZ

@KimmyLL1890

Tanning to the point where you look a different race is extremely problematic. Her intent doesn’t matter when her impact was harmful. POC that are darker skin don’t get to pick and choose on which day of the week when they are going to be darker skin and for yt ppl to treat dark skin like a trend when POC are being discriminated against and experiencing colorism for it, is a spit in the face. Being tan is a new “beauty standard” created by who exactly? Right. Being you natural tanning color isn’t the issue here you quite literally can’t help that and nobody with a valid opinion is going to fault someone for that. it’s the going out of your way to tan to the point where you are mimicking a group of people who face real discrimination for something they naturally are because you thinks it’s trendy that’s the issue.

DO NOT sleep with makeup on your face! 3. St. Ives scrub is bad for your face. 4. Wash your face with a salicylic acid cleanser (if you have oily/acne-prone skin). 5. ALWAYS DOUBLE CLEANSE AT NIGHT! 6. Exfoliate 1-3x weekly. 7. VitC can go bad in a dropper form. 8. Expensive skincare isn't always better. 9. Skinfix Barrier+ Triple Lipid-Peptide Cream is the BEST moisturizer EVER for DRY skin! 🥰🥰🥰 10. ALWAYS WEAR SPF & REAPPLY EVERY 1.5-2 HOURS! 11. Eye creams aren't necessary. 12. ALWAYS MOISTURIZE! 13.… ALWAYS GO WITH FRAGRANCE-FREE SKINCARE PRODUCTS!

hyram‘s probably not gonna read this but here‘s my routine anyways: in the morning i cleanse with cetaphil‘s daily cleansing lotion (no foaming). then i use my skin 1004 centella water sunscreen and don‘t even need a moisturizer for my oily skin beforehand. then my lunchtime i‘ll cleanse my face with just water bc i‘m oily AF and then reapply my sunscreen. when i get home from work the first thing i‘ll do is washing my face. first i go in with garnier‘s pink micellar water, then i go in with cerave‘s cleansing oil. it‘s called a cleansing oil but it foams up so idk… then i moisturize with benton‘s aloe hyaluron or aloe propolis moisturizer. depends on how much moisture i need. 3x a week i apply differin gel after that and once a week i apply garnier‘s 5% glycolic acid toner before moisturizer. and that‘s about it…

Guys…it’s good to tell people to educate themselves but let’s never forget we all have to educate ourselves constantly. Never rest on your laurels. A lot of girls in the UK do self-tan and have done that for decades before being exposed to extra-European cultures. It has to do with social class. It’s considered higher social class to be able to go on vacation in the South of Europe, so people in the UK have started self-tanning. The same way that people in Asia like to keep their skin much whiter than it naturally is, because it shows that they don’t work outside, and it is again, social class related. Not everything is about race. Also, this is obviously not that girl’s natural skin tone but I want to remind people of the diversity of skin tones that one will find traveling around Europe. People in the South of Europe (South of France, Italy, Spain and Greece…) have as dark a skin tone as this girl and it’s natural. And they’re still European. The concept of « White » is an American invention that is used to create uniformity among the people of European descent against Black and Brown people. And also uniformity under the American flag. As in, to create one nation and disregard origins. But White is not really a concept outside of the US, in the sense that you will rarely (although it is changing because we tend to mimic the US) find a European talking in Black/White terms. They’ll say « Italian » or « German » or « Senegalese ».

No wonder our children grow up confused. First you say it’s okay to identify as something you clearly are not. But at the same time if you’re white and identify as black then that’s not responsible? Make up your mind already… like you have no control over your skin color. Nor do you have control over the sex you’re born in. Y’all are confusing your feelings for something they are not. I have never seen before a generation so mentally ill tbh. Like clearly these feelings come from places and I know a lot of it is for attention, especially because the later generations have so many skills and things are so available. It is hard to stand out. But this has gone way over board.

I believe the very tan girl is an Irish Traveler (Gypsy) who has content posted other places as well! Not that it makes it much better, but they’re also a minority group

As for the girl who was overly tanned. Based on her accent and overall “look”, I’m guessing she’s an Irish traveller. Speaking from experience, all travellers here in Ireland apply tan that is wayyy too dark for them to the point that they look like a different race! I’ve actually seen darker than her! Their makeup is always crazy dramatic as well. No one thinks it’s attractive but it is what it is.

Yeah it’s literally their culture tbh. If they don’t do this they don’t fit in. He’s talking about things he doesn’t know. She’s not hurting anyone idk why he got on a soapbox about it. People change their skin color with makeup but can be tanner? Let them live their life

I didn’t know about the Irish travellers lore! I was gonna comment about how the make up style reminded me of the Gyaru fashion style in Japan, but your thought makes much more sense!

When I worked in an office setting one of coworkers removed her makeup one day (it was Halloween & I guess it was bothering her) with a disinfecting wipe we used to clean the computers and I was horrified. Ironically she probably had the best skin in the group lol like how. I just needed to get that off my chest

As someone who struggles with picking at anything I can pick at I LOVE the patches because instead of picking my skin I pick the patches. Not 100% fool proof but better than before. Love your videos. My skin is so much better since I actually (kinda) understand what ingredients to look for and how to use them.

@@A.Huddy.2273 I hope it helps you! When you get those clear patches that are just flat you can even cut them in quarters for tiny spots. They still help and you can save some money. Personally I get super cheap patches from my local drugstore, just made sure the active ingredient is the right one :).

@@lushpapaya9932 term gypsy has meant to be used to refer to Romanis. The term was used term was made due to the misconception that they came from Egypt. So calling Irish travelers gypsies would be incorrect. The Irish have mistakenly been called gypsies when that is the incorrect term. You’re the one who needs to do research. There is a reason that in the UK, data collection differentiates gypsies and Irish travelers.

Love this video! The girl who is tanned is a Traveller from Ireland I believe? I've watched her videos a few times on my FYP on tiktok. While I'm absolutely not agreeing with darkening your skin so much to imitate another race, I know it is prevalent in the travelling community!

When I was in high school it was super normal to go to the tanning beds all the time and get super tan. My boyfriend used to tell me I was turning orange this was just something we did back then. Also it’s normal for some women to tan that much when they are into body building or doing shows ect. Just because someone is tanning to maybe a color you don’t think is natural doesn’t mean they are trying to change their skin tone it truly could be this women grew up in the 2000’s and still likes to have that dark tan that was popular in our day. Just a small observation.. who knows I could be wrong to but just a thought.

If you’re looking for a less wasteful way to cleanse the eye area, I recommend the eyelash brushes that are marketed for cleansing lash extensions! That way you could just clean and maintain the brush and not have to toss it each time
