This video shows a black swallowtail caterpillar (Papilio polyxenes) shedding its larval skin and becoming a pupa (chrysalis) in a process called metamorphosis. It was filmed in The Monarch Lab at The University of Minnesota. This video was been sped up and playback rates are shown on the bottom right corner of the screen.
