Ashita no joe is more of a dark human drama and boxing is just a tool to execute that. Its a shonen btw. Back when shonen manga was very dark. Fanstastic character development for mc. Masterpiece

Hearing the way everyone in the comments, and the way my friend has talked about Ashita no Joe, it sounds like a series I'd honestly love

The Joe whistle will ALWAYS be somewhere in my head. It's in the literal first scene of the show and it just kinda stuck with me

It's so special when a series' first scene sticks with a viewer for one reason or another

First to ask who is that? Who, who? That's Devilman, Devilman!

I've actually seen Devilman and Cutie Honey. Both sadly don't hold up to modern standards and can be pretty boring. Too formulaic. Villains could've won easily if they did send more of their elites and not just send only one each time. Safe to say the villains aren't exactly smart. In Cutie Honey, they aren't even threatening. But honestly love their openings. They are bangers. So far the only show I truly enjoyed that was older than the 80s is the original Ge Ge no Kitaro.

Ahhh, yeah I figured an old school series following a monster of the week formula would get tedious after a while, such a shame though because the openings like you said are bangers, and they definitely make the series look very fun
