Now that the algorithm is kicking in, i suppose i should clarfiy some stuff: Firstly: YES I MADE A MISTAKE WITH GENERATION WAR IT DIDN'T COME OUT IN 1976 Secondly: Most of the films that i would've like to include like Tobruk, sink the bismarck and the more modern Midway film i was unable to mostly cause of inability to access footage of them, both through legal and "grey" ways. Thirdly: The flag used in Fury and downfall is the German National flag because the swastika can get a video demonitised Finally: The lack of Chinese movies is mostly ideological. Since most of the fighting was between Nationalists vs Japanese, it wouldn't go over very well with the CCP to depict their former enemy as heroes.

People shouldn't care about these useless details. Point is, war is hell. It never achieves anything. Beware of those who call for war for the "greater good." History is usually told by the victors. This is becoming less true thankfully and hopefully the real truth of how bad such periods were wins out that we may not repeat it.

@@shhinobii I didn't say it in my initial comment, but I absolutely agree. My comment doesn't include the kind of bleak realism seen in films like _Come and See_ and _Das Boot_ (just to name a couple). European cinema (especially German and Russian) has had a take-no-prisoners approach to war films for far longer than Hollywood has. Consequently, I'd argue (and I'd bet you're of a similar opinion) that they're better war films for it.

It was one of the most lethal jobs at that time mostly when done by a child. It features him going trough many different situations following the army and being a good loyal Partisan. Try to watch soviet film series Liberation (1971) by Yuri Ozerov. It contains Battle of Kursk, Crossing of Dnepr river, Liberation of Belarus and Poland, Battle of Seelow heights and Battle of Berlin. Specially Battle of Kursk is well filmed because of using thousands of Red army soldiers instead of CGI.
