Timer-counter 0 of the microcontroller ATmega8 is 8-bit, that is, it can contain 256 clock cycles of the microcontroller, which corresponds to a strictly defined time interval. All the ATmega8 microcontroller has three timer-counters: 0, 1 and 2. The 1st TC is the most functional and is 16-bit, therefore it is separately considered in the next video. 0th and 2nd are 8-bit. As the name speaks for itself, the timer-counter can carry out both direct and reverse counting of time, necessarily tied to the clock frequency of the microcontroller. The data is stored or recorded in a certain time interval, it is executed in the TCNT0 account register, and the setting of the operating modes is made by setting and resetting the corresponding bits in the TCCR0 register.
