Last Wednesday I got three tickets for me and my two brothers to go see them in Frankfurt am Main, we love Tinariwen, they have what the first generation of North African migration has, a mix of Afro tradition and cool Westie modernity. Life in Europe today is different than back then, the European Identity Krysis a.k.a Migration Crisis, is immediately our identity crisis, as we are Europeans without European background. Tinariwen IS music to my identity as a non-Euro-eurocitizen. Unfortunately on the same day of the concert my 33 year old sister was diagnosed with cancer after waiting in the Klinik for several hours to receive the bad news...the news broke any desire to go see the band, what is left of that desire in my chest, is me looking at the beautiful B&W vinyl of the album “”Amatssou: Beyond Fear", which may be someday be signed by Tinariwen in a better times and of course enjoying it now.
