The 26th July 2023 military take-over in Niger Republic, is a sad reminder of the tiresome leadership question in Africa. The Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, President Bola Tinubu, angling for a quick resolution of the political crisis in Niger, has dispatched a 3-man delegation to the Sahel country, with the mandate to expeditiously resolve the political impasse there. The group, led by Nigeria’s former Military Head, Retired General Abdulsalami Abubakar, left the country for the Nigerien capital, Niamey on Thursday.
