Thank you so much for watching!! One final note. For those wondering why I am wearing a top that looks well past it's prime. It is. But it is also the top I was wearing the day I met Lee. This weekend marks one year since the passing of the most incredible person I have ever met. I count myself beyond fortunate to have been able to spend so much time with her. Let this be a reminder that life is short & we never know what is around the next corner. Hug your loved ones tight. Take risks. Smile. Be kind to one another & above all, be kind to yourself. Live your life to the fullest 🌻✨ Lots of love, Max & Oc 💛

Hi Max. I can't believe I actually bumped into you and Occy in your natural habit today! What a sheer fluke! I wasn't even where I'd planned to be at the start of the day. I recognised Occy first, then that amazing van. Sorry if I came across as a gushing fanboy lol. Seriously mate you and the vanlife community helped me get through 2 years of lockdown in Melbourne, fuelled on dreams of having a go at vanlife myself. Well I finally did it and lo and behold I get to meet one of the people that inspired me on my first trip out! Keep up the good work mate. The bed process is totally fine. Definitely a small price to pay for that added feature/functionality. I've always felt a lot of the permanent bed vans were a bit of a waste, so this looks excellent and definitely the way I'd want it.
@Lily_and_River
2 жыл бұрын
I think it depends on what it is you're looking for. To me the huge couch and table set up that needs to be there to actually make the bed, seems very restrictive in what else one can do with all that space. Instead the space under the bed can be used very well for lots of storage and all kinds of things that could be pulled out of the bed like other beds, tables, toilets. I've seen many creative designs. Also my husband and I want to sleep on a good mattress and like the idea of one person being able to sleep while the other is sitting elsewhere in the van at a table. For us it's definitely not just about making the bed every night, but also about the layout of the van. His van is very beautiful and spacious though, I understand the choices he made.
@ahumanmerelybeing

I agree--that's a lot of space to take up for something that you only use eight hours a day. If I were going to do a van, I wouldn't have a lot of outdoors gear to store, so I'd rather have the openness and space that comes from a convertible bed.

@@ahumanmerelybeing NAH; separate cot ALL the way! I stack no end of stuff on the bed when not in use then sling it all on the seats when it's sack time - and there's the bed, ready to rock. Years ago before wagon living, I had a futon thing that folded into a giant sofa - only bothered trying to change it from a bed a couple of times because of all the hassle with the bedding AND the aggro of trying to make the bed again!

He has a point about the bed. I agreed with the people who installed a permanent bed but once permanent, it's always like that. There's no rule that says you must convert your bed every morning into couch area, you can always just leave it as a bed every day. But his way, you have the choice. You can have friends over and quickly create a livingroom. Also he has that nifty extension to use as a table...just need a couple of chairs.

so good to see you uploading again, Max. you and the Occster look healthy and happy. I watched every single van build video as you uploaded them, and loved every single design element. It's a pleasing and practical build. Am a big fan of white & pale blue. Glad it's been working well for you both as you potter around. Hope the day job is going well too. love & light from the UK xx for Lee xx 💖🐾🐾💖💔

Dude, this is a expert van tour. I also have an Iveco daily over here in the UK. I stopped for winter but I have only got up to insulation and battening. I also have an Evolve Skateboard, I've 2 actually. My freind worked at the shop in the UK and got me into them. I'd get that inner tube changed, one thing I will note is the screws holding the motors sometimes come loose. We all like to perminently remove those back plastic covers, they serve no purpose. Then it gives you access to the screws for tightening the motors when skating, with less hassel, maybe bring your tools that came with the board. You should tighten them regularly because if you lose the bolts they are hard to get hold of when contacting evolve. but I think they are M4 bolts, nice an short, not sure the exact length. If you lose one your breaks will vibrate and it wont slow you down and it will eventually damage your threads. Its the only maintancnce you really need.

Having watched the build process, it was great to see it all presented in that way. The end result certainly has been amazing. I think it also shows how you have used the knowledge and experience from earlier builds to create such a great outcome. Cheers. Stay safe and well.

Been following lots of van, schoolie nomads because I’d like to live this lifestyle as well. My condolences for your loss of Lee. There is a great lil book that was gifted to me when I loss my spouse 15 yrs ago it’s called “healing after loss” daily meditations for working through grief. I still use it to this day as Iost my younger brother 5 yrs ago and most recently my 15 yo cat. This lil book has helped and journaling and like yourself just getting out into nature and listening to her as well all has healing effects. Ty for the info regarding therapist to talk to online. Ty for the van home tour that you and occy share it’s a beautiful very functional build ✌️🌅

You are such a sweet and gentle man. I always enjoy your videos, thank you for sharing your self and your story so honestly and vulnerably. Thinking of you and Lee, now and always, I never met her but I felt her loss deeply, like so many people did. Your van build is incredible, you've done such a beautiful and skillful job. I will definitely be re-watching your build videos when I'm ready to do my own. :)

I have watched many van builds, I am obsessed watching everyone else travel as I can't, but this is a very well thought out build, i'm impressed you have done so much work yourself thinking you must be an elecrician with skills of a builder, the fact you aren't amazes me even more. I love Occy, do you ever thin out his coat, it's so long..must be so hot for him. What a cutie pie.

Such a beautiful van home!! Of course things aren’t gonna be perfectly organised: it’s still a very compact home. You have absolutely maximised space though, and still have something absolutely perfect to live in. Love Occy’s little gangplank deck too! 💚

I've watched a lot of van life, design and build videos and in each there are comments about how it's the best van design someone has ever seen. But my view is that the best van design is the one that works best for you and which you are happiest with. And even "objectively" there's no such thing as the best or perfect van design both because of the limited space there is to work with and all the other constraints like water and fuel supply and limited budgets, and because there's more than one way to do it "right", that meets every vanlifer's need for a way to cook, eat, sleep, relax, work, entertain, use the facilities and be safe. You've clearly hit on one such approach here and seem to be very happy with it, so for you, this is the best van design ever. But I bet that you're always thinking of ways to improve it. Perhaps that's part of the fun of vanlifing, always reinventing where you're going, what you're doing and how you're living.
