I always have gear ties on me just as a macguyver tool. The only limit to what they can do is your imagination. I even fashion a cup holder out of the 2 ft version sometimes for my wheelchair. It doesn't inspire confidence but it gets the job done. Lol

Ooh this is actually up my alley as this is really similar to EDC gear. Similar to the Marlboro, check out the Niteize Doohickey and Gerber Shard (which you've mentioned before too). For pens, check out the Olight mini pen, Ohto pen, Fisher Space pen.

Consideration for people who wear regular glasses - transition lenses may be a good option to avoid having to bring a bulky case for your additional pair of sunglasses. They don't work in the car though, so keep that in mind. Perfect for carless trips.

Some of the newer types of transitions will change in the car and offer protection for indoor artificial light.

Actually I have been wearing the transition sport lenses in my glasses for years since I’m pretty much blind without them. It’s a great hack and have not needed separate sunglasses since making the switch. They are UV and if you choose the coating option blue blocking as well. In USA a bit more expensive since insurance doesn’t cover but for what I consider an essential item worth it. Only downside is being considered a techno nerd but I closet aspire to that distinction anyway 😂

Transition lenses? What are those?
@evs9874
Жыл бұрын
@@WestHTH Do you have a brand/product name? I use the Transition Xtra active lenses, which do claim to change in the car - they do, just not enough to make a difference, and only if the aircon is not on (their reactivity seems to be based on temperature). I haven't noticed them reacting to indoor artificial light, unless that light has a UV component. It does work indoors on outdoor light if the window doesn't have an anti-UV coating. These lenses have a slight tint to them, so may not be for everyone.

Friday at last! Regarding trevel tweezers - nothing beats Victorinox tweezers used in their SAKs. They can also be purchased separately. Smallest possible size and weight. Tweezers appears to be the most used tool in my Victorinox Fieldmaster :D

This is what I do. I carry an SAK jetsetter (bladeless) model when I onebag travel and remove the toothpick and tweezers when going through security just in case they take the knife away. I label the jetsetter with stickers that point out that there is no blade and it’s saved me a few times from losing it. But you still never know and that little tweezer is more valuable and better than any “micro” or travel tweezer out there on the market.

I got "Uncle Bill's Sliver Gripper Precision Key Chain Tweezers" a couple years ago and love them. Always on me and precise enough to remove the slivers I commonly get working in my trades job or around the farm at home, they fly with me to - always on my keychain.

Remember tsa friendlyb doesn't mean it will pass customs overseas. My partner had her circular keychain confiscated in singapore because it was too large. It was just a circle carribiner style loop but they said could be used as a weapon. They told me i cant bring a mini tool because it had a bottle opener, despite it being tsa approved.

Has anyone tried a Matador dry-through bag for packing up a wet bathing suit? They have 2 different toiletry bags that I thought might work, but I wasn't quite sure. Figured a PackHacker video would be a good place ask.

From my experience, pretty good. I have the toiletry case but I believe it’s made of the same stuff. Works as advertised, but I’d be surprised if your clothes would be truly 100% dry, but better than nothing.

The rovyvon ones are, they have several versions depending on what features you want and how much you want to spend. FYI their glow in the dark cases are neat but don't last that long and they're not a very bright glow. I love the one's I have but wish I hadn't sprung extra for that feature. They have a version with a spot to also use a AAA battery if the rechargeable dies. I carry the small one daily and the AAA one is my travel one. You can get little clips for them and hang them inside your pocket so they're easy to grab, and you can turn them on and hang them outside your pocket or on your shirt if you need to walk near traffic to help people see you and not make you roadkill...
