I have the "Masters of the Barebow" series and have attended one of Rod's clinics. He's a great guy. I also have communicated with him about various issues - he's always willing (and very able) to help.

So this is basically, I am learning, the same as string walking, which places the arrow closer to the eye and thus reducing the gap. Is that correct? Then it's a matter of practice to know those gaps at varying distances. Right? Thanks for your videos they are really clear and useful pragmatically. One of the bests out there.

Tracy L - I used to shoot instinctive, but I switched to gapping for more accuracy. I squirrel, turkey, and deer hunting gapping. You don't have to know the exact yardage. You just see the gap after a while. Check out my other videos. You'll see me squirrel hunting.

Thank you , Thank you! Great video, which is extremely helpful to a newbie like me. Is it practical to do the same thing to correct horizontal gaps?

I like gap for target shooting but I struggle using it for hunting. It is hard to hold under the belly of a deer and feel.right

I do fine with my elevation, but 90% of my arrows hit to left of bullseye at every distance from 10 mtrs to 30 mtrs. I don't want to correct by aiming to the right. Something is wrong with my form?

That's that strap or brace on his chest/shoulder?
@jimmyblackmon
Жыл бұрын
Are you asking "What" is that? If so, it's a chest protector. When you expand and pull the bow all the way back the string is against your chest and it will hit your shirt and pinch your massive pecs.

How do you adjust with a traditional bow for your arrows hitting too left or right when you are aiming right at the target and a buddy of mine was telling me that you should cant the bow a little for better accuracy is this true
@jimmyblackmon

Umm. NO. Tune the arrow to shoot straight. If it's left (RH shooter) then you are stiff. If it's too far right (RH shooter) then you are weak. Opposite for LH shooter. Shorten arrow to stiffen, lengthen or increase point weight to weaken.

You gappers, I just cant comprehend all this yaradage stuff lol. But you sir prove it to be effective as a crutch when that one arrow really counts. Have you ever done just straight instinct for a period of years? Were you always gapping? I never tried gaps, but up to 25yds ill still hit a beer cap regularly!

Also, how would you incorporate say squirell hunting as a gapper compared to instinctive? Would you be just as confident with odd shots on such a small target with gapp eyes? I just cant understand it being more comfortable, but I would love to hear your overall input!

I ended up ordering a custom small cruiser field quiver from him. Great guy to work with and funny. I ordered up a Imperial longbow from Kegan Mccabe and thought I would treat myself to nice quiver to go with it.

Jimmy Thank you very much!! Great video. Question: I am a gap shooter thanks 2 u. At 20 yards, I have my arrows in the right high level but, I can not get consistency in the horizontal plane. They hit either left or right. I am three under, no plunger, no elevated arrow rest. What do you recommend me to do? Can you show a draw on how do you position, raiser, string and arrow tip? Thanks a lot!
@jimmyblackmon

Gerardo Saucedo If you are having left and right issues then it could be several things. Make sure your anchor is consistent. Look in a mirror or better yet, film yourself. If it's not the anchor it could be the release. Make sure your fingers are relaxing and sliding off the string smoothly. Plucking the string can move the arrow as well. Finally, your bow hand has to be rock solid. Anticipating the shot and grabbing the bow will move the arrow, but it usually gives you a low show as well. Hope this helps. Best of luck.

Jimmy Thank you very much! When you say that my bow hand has to be rock solid, you mean that, the problem may be that I am grabbing the bow too strong or, the best way to grab the bow is rock solid? Thank you very much.
@jimmyblackmon

Gerardo Saucedo It could be your anchor. How consistent is it? Video is very telling. You release could also be just a bit inconsistent. It's hard to say without seeing.

Nice video. TBH...I don´t understand, how someone can´t understand this. This is about basic geometrics, right? :-D Consider the axis of an arrow with Your anchored hand and axis of Your sight as a triangle. You can´t have the same impact point, when You change the angle.
