In this video, I show you an easy way to mark your anchor line so you know how much line you have out and it provides a way to measure water depth.
All you'll need is a roll of electrical tape...or you can have multiple rolls in various colors.
I also go over the proper anchor line length to use according to the water depth. This is always a touchy subject to talk about, but the ratio of water depth to anchor line length I state is the best ratio I have found over the many years of doing this kayak fishing thing. Other ratios can work, but for me and my experience, this ratio allows for the safest and best deployment and retrieval of the anchor line while minimizing the weight of the anchor needed to hold your position effectively. I use a 1.5 or 3 lbs. anchor and it works exceptionally well with this ratio so that I do not have to use any more weight than necessary or carry any more weight on board the kayak than is necessary.
