Thanks, George! This was a really great video. I enjoyed the straight forward instruction without gadgets or gimmicks. I have been sharpening my chisels by hand (without a blade guide) since I started woodworking. I just naturally figured it would make things faster when in the middle of a project. I also lose things easily so I didn’t want to be dependent on the blade guide. And I’m kind of cheap.

'Efficient-(of a person) working in a well-organized and competent way.' I would say that the above definition applies to his explanation in this video. Not a whole bunch of extra, unnecessary rambling, just how it's done and how to do it. Thank you! I'm off to find that subscribe button

i have watched other videos about sharpening chisels and can you explain the point others make about sharpening the micro bevel and also why do they show sharpening with going up in grit sizes? you are using just one angle and grit.

Hello. There are a lot of ways to sharpen and maintain an edge. If you are setting a new angle on a tool you will have to remove a lot of material, so it's best to start with a coarse grit and work you way through progressively finer grits once you achieve the angle you want to achieve. Once you achieve the desired angle, you can usually just hone the edge with the finest grit, removing a minimum amount of material. A micro-bevel can be used to further minimize the amount of materials that you have to remove each time you sharpen. You just have to hone the micro-bevel, which is usually set approximately 5 degrees off of your primary bevel. I use this approach for hand sharpening, as it requires less work each time I hone. With machine sharpening, it doesn't make as big of a difference in the time or effort involved. Thanks Paul-Woodworkers Guild of America
