I just finished my MBA at WGU, yesterday. For C214, and C215, read the chapters and watch the videos. For papers just read the assignments first, and just follow the rubric. Also, I did more than one course at a time. This made me switch my mind, and not get bored.

Congratulations on finishing!! Thank you for sharing these tips, too! I have both of those classes and a couple others to finish in my second term (started today). Fingers crossed I can get everything done by September!

Thank you so much for your tips on how to approach a paper! I am fairly new at WGU and just started my first performance assessment class. I have been so slow to get that paper written. I wish I had seen your video before I started this class

Congratulations on starting your WGU journey! I'm glad the tips were helpful! Don't be too hard on yourself; there is always a learning curve when you do something new. Thankfully WGU is super flexible. Good luck on the rest of your paper and with your degree!

Is the tutoring helpful and also what the technology needed for accounting

Hi there! I'm not quite sure what you mean about tutoring. I have not used any tutoring resources at WGU, just the resources provided for each class. I know they do have writing, math, student success, and career/professional development centers where students can find more resources and get additional help. I haven't used any of the success centers yet, so I can't tell you if they were helpful or not. In terms of technology for accounting, I'm assuming you mean the class Accounting for Decision Makers? All you need is a calculator for that class; I used a graphing calculator I've had since high school. However, for Financial Management, which I'm taking now, you do need a financial calculator. I found one on Facebook Marketplace for $10 (they're approximately $40 on Amazon). Please let me know if that's not what you were talking about. I'd be happy to answer further questions 😊

How long are the papers more or less at WGU?
@rachael1696

WGU doesn't have a page requirement for any of the papers; as long as you answer all of the prompts, you're good. For each paper, they give you a suggested/average page length, so you have an idea, but you're not required to write a certain number of pages. I just reviewed all the papers I wrote (I've completed all paper-based classes except the capstone), and including a title page and table of contents page, the papers I've written have spanned between 5-14 pages. Some also have works cited at the end.

Rachael, thx for the video! Are all of the books online or can you get the real textbooks for the course?

Hey Brock, each term you pay a $145 resource fee, which covers the cost of all the materials you need for classes, but they are electronic. If you want to purchase a physical copy, I belive you have to purchase that on your own. When I first started, I very much thought I would be purchasing books, but the online books have sufficed. They often have video resources for you to watch or a read aloud function that you can use to learn. For the classes where you write papers, chances are you won't be reading the whole textbook anyway, just the sections needed for the paper. For the test-based classes like C213 and C214, there are videos you can watch to learn instead of read the book, if you want.
