The information is spot-on; as an Asian I also have to be wary of bridge fitment.

You did a great job on this video which is obvious. Not only was the video content super helpful but your presentation was thorough, detailed, and presented in a very professional way. Obvs since it's standing the test of time! I'm not Asian; however, I need glasses with a low bridge frame so it is very helpful for me to understand all of these details. I'm going to go thru your other videos to see what other information may apply to and help me in my eyeglass journeys. (I'm looking for glasses now.) : ) Thanks again. I hope you are making more videos because you are a natural at conveying information in a pleasing and interesting way.

I think that round metal glasses frame, no matter japanese style or korean style, is very popular now and most suitable for asian. In some asian counteries like China, or Korea, it is common that you observe a wide range of people wearing round metal glasses.

great video and thank you for explaining the numbers and little details i've seen but never remembered to ask my optometrist. looking forward to checking out your other videos since still need prescription readers for just one eye, pop out a lens, or bring back the monocle since i got monovision. I under maybe 25+ yrs ago texas doctors specifically didn't think contacts would even fit in small "chinese eyes" no matter how widely we opened them, but obviously that was never a problem. I am so happy that you are educating those who are in the same field yet have likely never thought of these issues as it's never pertained to them. It's like asking them have they ever thought what life would've been like growing up without being male and now that i've asked you, do you think it's made your life any easier? women as a whole know the answer to this is a big fat NO when it's obviously so yes. lol. Thanks for educating the wearer as much as the prescriber as we cannot expect others to be knowledgeable about everything either and it's up to us to know what works for ourselves.

Thank you so much for your comment! Hopefully we can get the rest of the optical industry to be aware and care more about this issue
That was helpful, thanks. Though my problem is a bit different... I'm mixed race, but with a relatively European nose... mostly. The bridge is just a bit too narrow for regular frames to sit where they are supposed to. The spot where my nose is wide enough is just a bit closer to the face, so my cheeks will touch the frame, as will my eyelashes. I currently have a pair with a 16 bridge and it works, but good luck finding something like that in Europe. Especially when you want something of a bit higher quality.

Hi, this in an interesting topic. I live in the UK but I am originally from Colombia. Due to my family having a lot of Native American ancestry (as is normal for my part of the world), we all have very Asiatic features and the nose bridge is a big problem. All of my family including my children suffer from glasses constantly falling off due to having small noses/low nose bridges. Even with special fitting my son and I we are still experiencing those issues. I cannot even look down without the things falling.

Yes! It’s such a common issue for a lot of ethnicities. Definitely need more options out there 🤌

Thank you so much for all this information! I didn’t know we could ask the optician to swap the lenses from sunnies to clear or vice-versa, that is very helpful. Sadly, I’m a French-Asian living in France where the stores don’t have as much option for Asian fit as the US. I keep searching online but get scared of shipping fees if the glasses don’t match my face… so I’m sticking to metal frames because of the adjustability around the nose. But they still hit my cheeks whenever I smile which is a bummer. I actually dream about the day where I could actually have the perfect frame size for my face haha Anyway, thanks for sharing your tips!

Hi Misty, thank you for sharing your experience. I share the same frustration you do with the limited options we have for Asian/Alternative fit frames especially in the plastic styles. I wish the optical community would do more to diversify the fitting structures and versatility of glasses. I know many other ethnicities (besides Asian) struggle with their glasses as well because of their need for larger sizes and extended nose pieces. I appreciate you sharing your struggles so that it creates awareness and so others don’t feel alone in finding glasses that fit their natural facial features.

I wish there were more brands I can mention. Sometimes certain frame companies have "universal fit" glasses they occasionally release.
