Jesus, I'd throw my wallet at the screen right now if I could. Thank you so much for the feedback. The last part applies to any other type of business. One of the biggest lessons that I've got while pitching has been to answer the question that I've been asked... Nothing more, nothing less.

If you don’t have a strong technical cofounder and you don’t have connections with YC partners then Good luck getting in. They follow a strict check list of who they want in their company based on arbitrary Paul Graham essays - truth is many companies have unconventional beginnings so it’s hard to expect all of them to fit one look (ie DoorDash not everyone’s going to have a team like that). Super cool to see that YC invested in Bulletin though! That was cool

Thanks, Justin! Very informative video. I've interviewed with YC multiple times for my healthcare startup. I've always felt that YC is probably better for pure software/enterprise/consumer companies. Certain deep-tech and healthcare companies might have a better trajectory if they apply to a different accelerator that has the network & industry connection to help them grow. It's great seeing your channel grow! Looking forward to more great content.

Hey there! Love your content and really appreciate it! I'm planning to apply for the summer class, but I'm in a unique situation as a single founder with just a prototype of the app. I don't have a CTO to build it, and I don't have any numbers like sales or revenue yet. It's still a new idea I'm bringing to life. Do you think this will affect my interview? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Hey Justin, great content as always, I've been subscribed since you had 10k subs :) You touched on a little bit about potential market size, but I have more questions. I'm a founder of a macOS app called eqMac, we have 100k monthly active users and around 1000 monthly paying customers. Not anything huge my any stretch of the imagination, but it's enough to cover the bills and sustain our current lifestyle. We have competitors that were in the market for decades at this point, where's I was working on this project for around 5 years part-time and the last year full-time. I feel like my competition is complacent and stagnating and I have big ideas on how to overthrow them. But that would require capital to accelerate the growth. But in the end it would (probably) never be a unicorn because of the niche it's in. I guess my question is, do VC's and incubators only after big unicorn ideas nowadays, or are they willing to invest in small companies that don't have as much return potential, but can potentially probably still have a consistent return in the long term? Again, thanks for your content and wisdom! Roman

Solo founder/developer do YC accept this?
@sleep8765
2 жыл бұрын
Yes, if they think you are cut for it. The first thing they'll do if they select you as a solo founder is ask you to get a cofounder though. Statistically speaking, solo founders have a way lower chance of making it into YC. That doesn't mean it's impossible, but if you really want odds on your favour, I'd get a partner if I were you. A founder you know and trust is always best, but if no one comes to mind, YC has a cofounder matchup site where you can find likeminded people to build a product with. (Which backs the point that they really prefer cofounders). Hope this was somewhat helpful

Hey justin!
