My mum bought my first flute of eBay for $160 dollars, it is a Yamaha 225N and I love it (it lasted me 5 years). Today she took me to my repair man who also sells flutes and I tried a few out. I ended up getting aN intermediate Trevor James and I absolutely love it.

Hmmm... haven't heard of the Mendini by Cecilo, so unfortunately, I can't say much of it. If you're looking for something with a sweet tone, I would def suggest the Trevor James I talked about in this video to get the bang for your buck. ;) Or the Yamaha--a used one. Also, have you directly compared the two flutes? You can make your friends listen to you play both of them without telling them which is which, and then have them tell you which one they like more. :)

My parents bought me a Weissman Mckenna professional flute. It has a high E facilitator, a silver headjoint, a C# trill key, French pointed arms, and very ornate engravings on the keys for $4000. It's amazing because I was offered other flutes from more well known manufacturers (Haynes, Powell, Burkart, etc...) and I even tried a 24K gold flute at a convention, but surprisingly, the flute I have now sounded better than all of them. You should check them out. I highly recommend them!

Hey, Just wanted to thank you. I bought my close friend's child her second flute from one of your reviews and so I called Flute Centers of NY and bought it over the phone. We decided on the Di Zhao 300 and think hope it works for her. She has done a great job with her junk flute we got her and never complained once. We were thinking this could be her second flute if she upgrades in the future thinking you were right that she would need a second flute so, just wanted to say these vids are helpful and inspiring. :)

I read all comments I get on my videos, and while I usually don't have much time to answer them nowadays, I just had to tell you that I'm extremely impressed with your response. :) Your acceptance of reality, which is always more daunting than we expect, is admirable, and that means that you have the potential to go very far in life. Disillusionment is always the first step toward success. Daunting, yes, but that is precisely why we set up goals. One step at a time, hun. You can do it. :)

Tip on buying flutes: 1. Never pay more than you can afford (Many rental programs have interest that is nearly %200.) 2. Never let someone brand shame you ( example: Pearls suck, you should only buy Yamaha, Bundy, etc) Conclusion: If you feel confident learning on your own, with a cheap instrument, with little to no private lessons, do it, because KZitem is here for that very purpose. Furthermore, buying an expensive instrument and paying $100 an hour in lessons won't guarantee that you'll be a good player, only you can decide that.

I'm actually in the market for a new flute :) Being a saxophonist that doubles, I've only borrowed flutes when I had a need for one. I have a bit more jazz gigs coming up and would like to get a decent flute (looking at a used 225SII specifically). I've also heard that some vintage flutes are good for jazz. I don't need anything professional since I won't be playing classical flute repertoire, haha. Any suggestions? A student model might do me just fine, but since I'm playing at the collegiate level, I think I should at least have an intermediate model, lol. Thoughts?

What about Nuvo flutes? Nuvo manufacture a student model and a curved headjoint model, called the jFlute. Entirely in plastic they have completely innovative features that are hardly believable until you actually see them demonstrated. And they cost less than half the average student flute. They sound good as well. They are very new but there are a few demos on youtube including ones by professional players taken at a music fair.

TMD SB There are Miyazawa flutes for 2000$, that is not expensive for a flute. I know there are flutes for 1000$ and less, but they mostly aren't made from silver, which gives a nicer tone. And beside that you don't even have to pay 2000 at once.

Hi there. I just got my 1st flute just over a week ago. I live in Belfast and there only 2 music shops were I live. I was going to get a Yamaha 211 but was put off it because we're it is made now days. So decided to get Trevor James 10x flute but not one had it. I then got told one of the music shops had a 2nd hand Trevor James privilege I I which is going in America for 800 dollars/£523 gbp 2nd hand and I paid 381 dollars/ £250 gbp. Also is the next one up from the Trevor James 10x. I took it because it was the only Trevor James I could get and I don't trust online shopping esp on 2nd hand flutes. But I'm so happy with the flute I went with and I got it really cheap. So I'm jus wana recommend if any one stuck on which flute to get I highly recommend Trevor James

Have advice? I’ve no idea about flutes since I didn't buy one MYSELF but I want one that’s high quality, not pricy+very reliable. I looked at powell, miyazawa, azumi+trevor james but too confusing. I wonder what’s the best one, what attachments I’d get, what material types (NO gold)+ what would be good for intermediate that beginners can play + work with pro stuff. A straight flute with all 3 attachments that plays well in high, low, fast, slow areas with a nice sound would be best. Any advice?

jasos Knight Hello! I have had a Mendini flute for 4 years now and I recommend not buying it. It is difficult to get a good tone on it (but it is possible) and you can also hear the air go through it. The flute is also nickel, which means that it stains very badly. Yet, the flute has been very helpful for my high school experience, so the choice is ultimately up to you if you want to buy it.
