Hey, easy with that remark! 55 years watching Nascar with me and there have been a lot of very good, solid drivers with very good stats that have ended their careers without a championship cup. It is so sad to me that in the new crowd of people coming out to Nascar, that to them it is all that matters, it is so sad. I am 66 years old and grew up in L.A. and love all of my L.A. teams and NASCAR is my favorite. Sorry if you don't like what I said, but I bet you are also the BOOER in the crowd.

I was at this race: Congrats Denny - Thanks for doing a burnout for the fans on the backstretch too At first when we were watching the slowest lap times ever run in a Bristol race I concluded that Bristol, like Indy, was now dead. HOWEVER - something special happened. The drivers showed up! What I mean is, we quickly saw the cream rise to the top. True wheelmen vs. guys with sponsor money. There is a reason that Denny, Martin, and Brad were there at the end when the rest of the field vaporized. Plainly, it was talent and experience. NASCAR, Goodyear, BMS, and FOX need to send those three some hazard pay because it was nuts out there.

When they analyze the tires, they will be able to see what the chemical makeup is and I'm with Denny on this one: this could be a huge moment for NASCAR and Goodyear. If they just dial back the cording, but keep about 70% of the tire wear, they're really going to have something and it could potentially be for all the tracks, not just short tracks. 2-3 second fall offs over the run is the sweet spot, but it's got to be to the point where if you are pushing, it can go to 3 to 4 seconds. That way you can't just go out there and run qualifying laps for 80% of a run, then be okay because you're going to pit anyways. It has to fall off more, sooner, the harder you push, just like it did for this race.

Regarding the Blaney topic around 55:30. I've noticed recently that Blaney is a bit of a dick inside and fresh out of the car. Everyone likes him because they say he's a "down to earth calm strategic and good guy." But I've never seen that. Dude regularly loses his shit over the most mundane events on track. But I'm not going to put it all on Blanet, I think it's a Penske environment problem. Logano, Keslowski and now Blaney all had massive 2 faced personality issues while being in a Penske car. Pretty much as soon as Brad left, he calmed way down and became a respectable driver and my opinion of him drastically changed. Now that Blaney has been in Penske for a while, I'm starting to notice his in car behavior problems and it makes you wonder if it's because of a Penske issue.

Denny’s not my favorite driver but I have mad respect. Great win. Second best race of 2024, and second greatest of the NextGen Era. 2024 is shaping up to be the MOST exciting and deepest Season of the last decade. Loved seeing an “old school” short track race… missed that… real racing. However, I felt the wear was a bit extreme. Cars couldn’t go more than 25 miles… think about that, 25 miles… and then blow. I think the resin, coupled with the temperature and condition of the track, created the tire wear problem we saw. If we could find a “happy medium” to this, sign me up. The way to separate the drivers on the short track isn’t increased HP, it’s increased tire awareness. I think that’s what we learned. And I think it’s the answer.

NASCAR fans don’t fall for more cars on the screen. Come on? They think we’re stupid. It was the temperature for sure. The compound d could not have cause this. How could it? Same tire as last year, so again it’s the temp. I’m with you Denny, this race was great because of on/off throttle time. Reminded me of old Atlanta.
@mclew1234

I don't know why it happened the way it was, but damn they need to find out what it was because that race was absolutely amazing. In relation to the old tire that were put on, you'd need to compare the wear of tires on the same car running similar stints. I don't think Logano ran them until they went off, a caution came out about 35-40 laps into the run and he ditched them if I remember correctly. It could be that those tires were wearing slower but teams didn't know it. Also various radio's after certain runs in the back half of the race saying these tires look better than earlier, so be interesting to see if they were the extra set teams were given.

This felt very reminiscent of formula one in the initial years with Pirelli. When the tyres would hit the “cliff” and the car becomes very slidey and all over the place. I’m with Denny on this though, if they dial the tyre back a little, with the current car, it could be a great mix where the races and destiny’s of the result are much more in the hands of the drivers and teams.

It was probably a better race in person than on TV because you can see the whole track. Tire wear is good but having multiple guys out there in the way running 20 second laps is not good. I think it was the lack of progressive falloff and lack of warning, you had 1-2 laps before you started running 3 seconds off the pace. It was the abruptness of the falloff that the was the problem for me. Lap 40 running fine, lap 42 you are on the cords running 30% throttle.
