For a 10 year old kid as I was in 1980 this was quite brilliant. my dad used to watch it too.

This is why TISWAS was so good. It wasn't just for the children but for adults too. And at the end there was Frank Carson! I wish I'd seen that sketch because he was brilliant.

I just LOVED this programme, back when I was a kid. OTT also. Watching this bit years later, it still stands up to me in my 50's. I'm guessing that the only thumbs down comes from a kid because, although it was ostensibly a child's show, we can clearly see the humour going waaaay above their heads.

it's funny that Sir Lenny of Henry did a radio program about how he'd never had anything to do with Shakespeare at school - and later plays Othello on stage But maybe his first exposure to Shakespeare was with Benny from Crossroads on Tiswas

Before us and Lenny Henry realised he was black, you can see the setback and suffering and the lack of acceptance in his poor eyes, such a pity he only realised years later when is career and popularity had wained that he’d suffered such racial abuse as a child. Poor soul.
