I've been painting cars for 25 years. After every job, the gun gets fully disassembled and cleaned thoroughly. I was taught this by an old school painter from day 1 and I still practice this today! Great video

Oftentimes with the 3500 you can replace the inlet and outlet valves and be right back up and running. That’s basically how they get “repacked”

I have an issue with my titan. I have a new gun, hose for gun, spray tip, new filters in the pump and the gun. And my lines will spray the 4 inch line normal but then all of a sudden it shoots out the sides and then I clear the tip and it comes out fine and then it does again where is shoots to the sides again. What can possibly be the issue? Our rock filter is good as well. Also when I run water through the machine it has no problems. And I forgot to mention I don’t lose pressure either when that problem happens when I’m striping. Any ideas what can be going on?

I have a Titan 550 and and it does not have that spray gun with the filter and all the sudden when I spray water through it to test it. Does fine? When I go to spray A-line it bogs down and machine cuts off any advice or help thank you.

Water is thin and paint is much thicker, check to make sure your big filter is clean.

Can you have your paint stripper spray laquor thinner through the nossel? Kind of like a way to clean the machine out at the end of the night?
@TheStripingGuy

You can it probably wouldn’t be wise to leave it in there overnight. But when you do that it helps clean it out.

4" lines require a 3-19 tip and 6 inch lines a 4-19

@@jimpatriot179there's literally no right answer for tip size. I use a 217 for 2" stripes all the time on playgrounds. I use a 417 for 4" lines, and 6". All depends on the paint you use, the temperature, but most of all, whatever the number says on the tip, only means something to whatever particular brand of tip it is. A 517 graco tip is completely different than a 517 Titan tip.

Ive used 3 different models of Titans, all were brand new, they're terrible. The Powerliner and the Speedflow 2850 never striped a decent line, once ever. They hour glass. They shake like a Chihuahua, id rather have a gx clone engine from Harbor Freight than a Subaru. The one with the hydraulic pump, a 4950 was much better, when it wasn't rattling every part loose, throwing the belt off or breaking the pull start. Been striping roads, parking lots and playgrounds, year round (san diego county) for just shy of 20 years and my advice is this: Spend the money on a Graco. Any Line Lazer will do. We put them thru Hell and they require little maintenance, and we basically give them none until its necessary. Clean it, put it back together, and it's fine. Only parts we've bought were pump rebuild kits, or a filter that went too long and developed a tear. (Even then, a piece of duct tape will keep you going) You don't need the filters in the guns, they're redundant, and cause more plugs. Same goes for the inline hose filters. All it needs is the one by the drain valve. Try it without the gun filter, it will most likely work better for you. If you look at some Titas, a lot of the parts are old Graco designs, cause even they know Gracos are better. Ive pulled them out of garages and backyards after years of sitting full of paint and spiders, and they've still out preformed brand new Titans without spending more than an afternoon cleaning it. Im not a paid spokesman of Graco, but I do have the out line of a trucker hat permanently tanned into my head from many, many endless days, nights, weekends, my entire 20's and 30's because these Gracos keep going.

Hell yeah! That'll be my first purchase in January. I'm debating buying used or new. I'm new. I'm not familiar with the equipment. So, I lean towards new. However, a good used one goes for 4k sometimes. Which is around 2/3 of a new piece of equipment. Would you recommend new or used? Is an old one worth the potential headache and added up-keep or just buy new and get going.

@@spacejunky4380 not a lot goes wrong with them. They have Honda GX120 engines, I've honestly never seen one of those fail. Even if they did, they're inexpensive to fix or replace with a clone (Predator ect.) The pump seals do wear out, the rebuild kits from Graco are like $80, Amazon has a knock off version for around $35. There's videos on youtube of people showing you step by step how to dismantle the pump and put it back together, if you're slightly handy it's totally doable, I've rebuilt dozens of them over the years. Used ones are just as good in my opinion. For $4000, id assuming that's a working machine. New ones are nice too, but they work just the same as a good used one, they're just shinier, and you'll freak out when paint gets all over it, cause it will, everything will get paint on it, every, single, thing, every tool, every clothing article, that's the hardest part about a new one besides the price tag.
