I once heard that the Titanic's stern could have theoretically floated without capsizing after splitting, but too many factors prevented it from happening. Since metal is ductile, and the Titanic's hull was obviously made of steel (which is a more brittle alloy compared with today's materials, but still ductile enough) it warped the hull, allowing the back compartments blocking the gap of the stern to fill up. And even if that didn't happen, there was too much weight now in the section where the bow once was. The front half would balance the weight to prevent it from going up or down (Imagine if you had a board and you put a rock in the middle. It would stay flat in the water. Now put it on one end. That end would tip over.) caused from the engines and boilers. Now that the support was gone, the engines and boilers (which were extremely heavy; the boilers were each 91.5 tons alone, and the engine was 720 tons) were stuck at one end, applying way too much torque to there, which is why the ship was immediately pulled to a 90 degree angle once the bow detached. Obviously, the flooded front compartment and the unbalanced weight together would cause the stern to sink, and since they pulled it down faster than it could fill, that's why the stern had tons of air holes that cause the water pressure to easily implode it. So, the only way this theory could be proven was if Titanic was an empty shell, which obviously wasn't the case. (I didn't steal the comment; I wrote it and copy-pasted my comment everywhere).

@@TITANICRevisitingHistory think he means the small tender ships like the SS Nomadic, the one who helped bring passengers from shore to the ship, if the ship could not fit on the docks from the shore. Accompanied by her sister SS Traffic. Also, great video, keep it up!

And plus, maybe not 1500 lives, but definitely a big fraction of it (some people were already freezing to death in the water if they fell off during the stern's drop after splitting or if they jumped off before the split. And I bet some were trapped in the bow, but still, the death toll would probably be much less than half). Sad that the only way all lives were saved was if the ship never sank, but we wouldn't have had all these novels and books that made our childhood, and we probably wouldn't even have movies such as Night to Remember or the 1997 movie, and most of all, MANY OF US WOULD NEVER HAVE KNOWN THE TITANIC ACTUALLY EXISTED. So, despite the tragedy, future generations had new things to work with for entertainment and education.
