There was a flag once. On a schoolyard. And it was always getting attacked. By everyone. The schoolkids would throw rocks at it. They would climb on the pole and tug at it. The rain would try to drown it. The wind would try to tear it off the pole. Even the other flags laugh at him. But no matter what, this flag just kept on flying. It wanted to show that it was king of the schoolyard. And it was the American flag. And it turns out that flag was playing chest the whole time.

The whole idea of not standing for the anthem is that the country isn't currently living up to the ideals upon which it was founded, and we need to do better. Whether or not you agree with that is irrelevant. It's so bizarre to see people who talk about "freedom freedom freedom" getting upset when others use their freedom to do something that offends them. And to not watch a sport simply because a guy doing that bothers you so much is childish at best 😅

He meant the star-spangled banner. And he's not *entirely* wrong. I forget the names but the song was written after someone noticed that the fort still had the American flag raised, and not the British. The battle wasn't about taking down a flag specifically. It was about taking the fort. But flag replacements occur when something is taken, so it sort of is about a flag. He's not actually wrong. You can argue that those soldiers were, in essence, protecting a flag from being taken down and replaced with a British one.
