On the third section, along with the +/- 15% of contribution to public health care, you need to add deductibles (or co-payments) which in 2022 is up to 2% of your annual gross salary, whereas for the private is negotiable as you well said. So in reality, contributions to Public Healthcare are around 15% + potentially another 2% a year, depending on how much you use their services (like hospitalization, specialists, etc).

Dear Axel, Thanks for the excellent videos. I have the following question regarding health insurance.1. Is it possible or easy to come back to public insurance especially if you have an income more than the threshold? 2. When it makes sense for a person with a family to take private insurance?

Thank you very much for the kind words. Both your questions depend on many different factors that always have to be evaluated on an individual basis. There is no general "family" because everybody is different & there is no general "private health insurance" as we have thousands of different private health insurance tariffs in Germany. Feel free to book a free meeting at perfinex.de/meeting and we can help you answer these questions for your personal situation.

Thanks for the video! Super helpful, only one question stands, is it true that if you leave the public health insurance, if you try to go back they will change back the years you didn't pay? Also in the same line, don't the prices for public health insurance go up as you grow older? And in case of a disease for example cancer, can private health insurance cancel the contract, or decide to not renew it? (do you even need to renew it? How does it work?)

I can see that you are very committed to improve your financial future from the amount of comments you write. I like it! Q1: Neither public health insurance not private health insurance will charge you if you haven’t been insured with them. Q2: It depends on your income. Q3: Private Health insurance cannot and will not kick you out. Q4: Once a private health insurance contract is accepted and signed by both parties, it doesn’t have to be renewed. -Axel

@@PerFinEx Thanks, that is true I tend to write many comments. Good to hear about the private health insurance, because I would only be afraid of a major problem in the future not being covered by. About your channel congrats! I watch a ton of financial content, mainly from my home country (Brazil) and the USA, and you are one of the best (for sure the best that I know in Germany)! Keep the great content!
