As a kid I would get excited to turn the crank and shell corn. Some point in time it became not as much fun. Well done restoration...

It was the same with me, although the crank was connected to an old-school ice cream maker... still worth the effort in the end though.

Thanks for this!! My Great great grandfather is AH patch, the inventor. I have most all the history and awards from him- including the original worlds fair award in Chicago...its an honor to see this video restoring one, great job!!

Always learn something new from your videos. I have never seen one before.

I'm trying to learn new things as well. First time "hot bluing" and first time using the "blast cabinet". Be interested in seeing how well it works.

Another cool restoration Chris. I always enjoy these types of videos. Also enjoy your tractor videos as well as the construction types of things. Thank you for motivating us.

Thanks Dean for the kind words of encouragement. Do have some 'build' type projects ahead of me, zipline, greenhouse, corn hole boards, lol... mixing fun projects with functional ones.

Do you need to make a bushing around sheller shaft? Frame casting appears worn pretty bad. I seem to remember our hand sheller a lot tighter? I may be remembering wrong too. Thanks for sharing. Great save of some old heritage.

there is definitely a little play in there, and a bushing is a good idea. Not as bad as that handle was though :)

When "blacking " metal it just needs to be hot. Use cooking oil.
