When Zambia passed the first Local Government Act (No.30) of 1965. Under this Act,
local authorities were established and Barotsland was wiped off of the world map. Having previously been an empire this attempt to dismantle our cultural citizenship, forced us to assert our self determination on the world stage for more than 56 years. Since I made this documentary, Barotse People have been systematically intimidated and subjugated by the Zambia government and since then and today are being killed and detained for the mere human right for self determination.

In Barotseland there is no freedom of speech, or association and the nation has been squeezed economically with up to 70 percent unemployment rates, due to diverted funds allocated for the region, corruption and collusion by the BRE with the occupying Zambia forces, high childhood mortality rates and poor health and general region infrastructure, basic education, all of which carry a disproportionate poverty level to Zambia and every other neighboring territory to Barotseland.
These are the reasons is why BNFA was founded to Safeguard the Human Rights and Natural Resources of Barotseland and exercise the UN Declaration of Human Rights .
