Don Ameche was one of the best panelists they had on the whole run of the show. He was articulate and made his points very clear. Another panelist I liked was Hy Gardner.

I'm with you Ed. He really is a master of the quick thinking, relevant questions. He doesn't waste everyone's time playing for the laugh, or playing to the crowd for attention. There's one game where 3 intelligent guys answer him with incredible speed, and accuracy. I'm looking for it as it's a treat to watch.

@@jodygoar7071 Thanks for your reply. On he other side of the fence, I don't see how Polly Bergen lasted as long as she did on this show. She had no business being on here in the first place because of the totally stupid stuff she said all the time.

That’s interesting because I thought that Don Ameche would question people like he was a prosecuting attorney and Hy Gardner was always insulting people.
@jerrycruitt5375

@@leesher1845 I think that was part of Hy's semetic schtick, but his occasionally misplaced one liner ripostes (sometimes funny) were quick, and usually preceded by relevant questions often laying in the weeds with some good tricks. I thought he did a good job, and sort of accidentally insulted people as he trailed for the quick laugh. Of course Don Ameche's machine gun, rapid fire, relevant, poignant, piercing questions may have sounded harsh, but he played the game perfectly, and unlike many of the other people, realized it wasn't the Don Ameche comedy show. I'm with Eddie. I thought he was absolutely fantastic, and certainly quick-minded, and played the real game instead of trying to be cute or silly.

Bud Collier was the consummate pro. I never saw him get frazzled and he always kept things moving on the show no matter what. The show was 1st class in those days. When it went to syndication with Garry Moore in the late 60s early 70s, it was not bad, but I feel that the CBS shows were the best. Sadly, if you have a game show today, sex, or off color stuff, or suggestive things, usually are standard fare. I am no prude, but these shows were squaky clean and look at the enjoyment people get watching them even today some 60+ years later!

Reality check for the day: In 1959, the real caddy was I'd say probably 12 years old. In 2024, that would make him 77 years old. We are only here for a split second in time folks, enjoy every moment to its fullest.

Number 1 and 3 are in HIGH school and the only one that looks like he could be, 2, is in Junior High? These kids look way too long for high school and I'd think even in 1959, no one under 13 and a half made it there without being a grade skipping genius.
