I think we ultimately need to truly know and love ourselves despite what society thinks. But knowing oneself is key. Who are you, completely naked and void of societal influences? Find that out. Love that person and just BE that person ❤️ I hope that makes sense🌸 Check out any of my videos on how I natural hair 🥰

You agree with the part where they said people are misrepresenting themselves as type 4 also? I mean an honest mistake is an honest mistake but it's better to own up to a mistake than double down or refuse to address it. Bottom line it hurts the same natural hair community you love when people misrepresent themselves as type 4 (or part type 4). That ain't it sis. I do agree that it can be good to avoid typing altogether because curls can change, with length, treatments, etc and it's just easier to not get tied to one as a blogger in case your hair switches up.

I do agree with that completely. I’ve never purposely classified myself to have any kinky/coily hair more than what I do. For me my refusing to address it anymore comes from people directly messaging me telling me that I’m not black because of my hair. Which is very hurtful to me because I am black. Like because of my hair texture I’m somehow less black ? I hope I’m making sense. That hurts me a lot especially when I’m not claiming to be something I’m not. I’m just another black girl that’s sharing her hair journey. But don’t get me wrong I’m completely aware of the misrepresentation because I see it all the time, it’s definitely not ok. I just feel like curl types has turned from something positive to help naturals with products and techniques has turned into something negative and I don’t want to be a part of that aspect anymore. I hope that shed some more light on where I’m coming from 💛

@@RissaRox yeah I agree on the part of curl typing being more trouble than it's worth.

@@RissaRox It has for sure become something completely negative and worth avoiding altogether. Curl typing isn't even that useful (compared to porosity). It's not worth the energy arguing about it and people having the NERVE to say that a black person isn't black enough just goes to show how ignorant as hell they are. Our ancestors didn't suffer through agonizing pain and suffering just for us to turn against each other and act like ignorant brats. People are literally dying in large numbers right now, spending energy arguing about a curl type is just stupid. That time could be used to learn something new or doing something more productive. tl;dr: Poeple need to spend time more wisely.

Salad Bar I agree but I also think this curl typing situation the natural hair community is in is a symptom of something deeper that the black community has been struggling with for decades. Once THAT issue is addressed, I think the problems that have grown from it will eventually die off
