ROBOTICS AND EMERGING TECHNOLOGY
Dear parent,
Greetings!!!
To Turn light on-off an LED using switch,a breadboard and a 9V battery
Components Used:
1. Breadboard: A breadboard is a prototyping tool used to build electronic circuits without soldering. It has a grid of holes that allow you to insert and connect components.
2. 2 LEDs (Light Emitting Diode): An LED is a semiconductor device that emits light when an electric current passes through it.
3. Resistor : A resistor is used to limit the current flowing through the LED.
4. Jumper wires : These are wires with pins at both ends used to connect components on the breadboard.
5. 9V Battery : A 9V battery is a portable power source commonly used in small electronic projects.
6. *Push button*: A switch is used to turn on and turn off the light.
METHOD :
1. Place the 2 LEDs on the breadboard: LEDs have two leads, a longer one called the anode (+) and a shorter one called the cathode (-). Insert the longer anode lead of the LED into a hole in one row of the breadboard and the shorter cathode lead into a hole in another row. Ensure the leads do not touch each other.
2. Connect the positive terminal of the 1st LED to the negative terminal of the 2nd LED.
3.Connect the resistor: Insert one leg of the resistor into the same row as the anode lead of the LED. Connect the other leg of the resistor to a free row on the breadboard.
4. Now connect the push button with the breadboard of two phases.
5. Connect the battery: Insert the positive terminal (+) of the 9V battery into a free row on the breadboard. Connect the negative terminal (-) of the battery to a separate row on the breadboard.
4. Complete the circuit: Use a jumper wire to connect the free end of the push button to the positive terminal (+) of the battery.
5. Connect the LED to the circuit: Use another jumper wire to connect the cathode lead of the LED (the shorter one) to the negative terminal (-) of the battery.
Ensure that the connections are secure and there are no loose wires or short circuits. Once everything is connected correctly, the LED should light up when the battery is connected.
