I love this video, it is short and simple and gets to the point, unlike a 20 minute explanation.

I got one because of Trey Canard's crash in 2012, Jason Anderson's crash at MXoN, and a few privateer riders the last few seasons getting landed on.

@@carlosmengs I think he practices without one but I can be wrong. You sacrifice comfort for safety, which a neckbrace has proven to work. Some riders wore one most if not their entire career (RV) and didn't seem to be restricted. It's like riders who wear chest protectors vs those who don't: it doesn't make you slower, rather slightly more protected.

@@ds6329 But I think it's not only about comfort because it limits you a lot looking up when trying to ride in a good and safe attack position
@ds6329

@@carlosmengs It depends on the brace and helmet combination a rider uses. Some helmets are too big and some neck braces can't be adjusted properly. My Leatt 5.5 has straps that connect under my arms to keep it down and secure. I agree it affects a rider's attack position but riders who wear them are able to adjust. It's not for everyone 🤷♂️.

First video is inaccurate, I wear a brace and can see perfectly fine, I can turn my head all the way to the left and right, can I look down 90 degrees? No, but you’re never looking down when you ride, you are looking ahead

But to look ahead in a good atack position you need to look up nearly 80 degrees and with the neck brace at least I'm not able to do it what forces me to ride in a more dangerous position.

I guess someone with a strong point of view about this, would be someone of the many that are in a wheel chair for the rest of their life due to neck injuries.

Spend a couple more hundred bucks and get a helite airbag vest for the street. It will brace your neck and protect your entire torso.

1:00 This argument is pretty easy contered by the fact, that people normaly dont wear helmets, an a helmet kinda provides an injury of the neck because it makes the head much bigger, heavier and increases the leverage energy on the head

We’re talking motocross here where I’ve never heard of anyone riding a track without a helmet. Also, helmets aren’t that heavy especially if you buy a nice one

@@A7XfoREVer531 I actually meant people dont wear helmets in the normal nature. You know what i mean? So the reflex of putting your head on your cheast wont work the same when you got a 1 kilo bucket on your head

Meh. You can still tuck and roll with a helmet. It's not as efficient, but it is even less efficient with a brace on. And if the weight and size of a helmet was that big of a contributor to neck injuries, we would see many more such injuries, and many more riders wearing braces. Just about every high speed get off would result in a neck injury.

Some people say that it can increase your chance of collarbone injury, but in my mind i'd rather risk breaking my collarbone than snapping my neck. And Leatts braces feature a cutout were your collarbone is.
@nestserau

It can save your collarbone because one of the ways to break it is with your helmet when absorbing the shock from getting off. The brace will prevent that.
