We left our wheelbarrow outside upright for a few nights. Filled with rain when it came, and I tipped the 'barrow and poured it out onto the ground. Within the next day - I had to stop on my way out the door- where I poured all that water (in equivalent to 5gal buckets, I'd say I poured out 3 buckets worth), a "sinkhole" had appeared. Only 4-5ft deep at max... That was in Arkansas during the summer. I'm wondering if it's from having a heavy season of rain (our weather plus me dumping a lot more water on one area), and then the hot summer that occurred. This kids splash pad - wondering if they dumped the water out in that spot next to it..... more than once.

It’s from an old septic tank. The city or whoever is responsible for filling the hole never did. We had the same problem in our backyard when I was a kid 38 or 39 years ago. I had two sisters and one of our legs sank and got stuck one day. My parents immediately investigated and we ended up at the city hall where they pulled old plans of our home and discovered there were two septic tanks way back in the day before the homes in that area were hooked up to the city’s sewer system. It’s not unheard of, but the media is doing their job of instilling fear into the public very well😂
