Is it weird that I started tearing up when you were sitting talking about how emotionally and physically draining parenting can get? My boys get so fussy around lunch/nap time and by the time I serve their food, I have no appetite. It is so hard but I wouldn’t change it for the world.

Yes! 🙌🏻🙌🏻 a realistic camping trip of where sometimes things just don’t go as planned. Little humans can be so unpredictable, so good to see content where not everything is picture perfect. Good days and bad days should be normalised.

Thank you so much for sharing this 🙌 Just got back from a beach vacation with my 24 month old. I had totally romanticized the vacation and it turned out my toddler was PETRIFIED of the beach. She hated the sound of the ocean and would not TOUCH the sand! All week she sat in our laps on the beach chairs and avoided anything to do with the sand 🤣 we did get some good snuggles from her being afraid but MAN that was hard and not what I expected at all. Thank you for keeping it real and letting us other mommas know we’re not alone 🥰

We went to Maui for 2 weeks with our 2.5 year old and wow some moments were hard but we got through them and even took him on the road to Hana! We truly enjoyed ourselves. Another time we went camping and had to circle the campground like total weirdos for about an hour and a half at 11 pm in order to get our kiddo asleep. Tent camping is sooo much harder than if you have an RV - so worth buying a small trailer if you are a camping family! With our second we are now seasoned and it’s always chaos but we always love it. Our 5 year old now forever adores camping - fishing with dad, collecting snails, s’mores, looking for mushrooms & learning about plants! Don’t give up!

Sorry to be a Debby Downer but why would you schedule camping when your toddler is in pain? Imagine having to go do something social with a severe tooth ache. Now add fever, full gums on fire and being a toddler with no life experience and knowledge as to why this is happening. The truama of the pain would be enough and then on top of that now parents are forcing you to do something and then parents are visibly audibly upset which only makes it worse for this little being. She already showed you that she wanted to stay home, sit and cuddle because really that's what a lot of us want when we feel horrible. I just don't get forcing children into situations that as adults we would loath if we were in their shoes. Some kids can bounce back and cry and be fine but clearly yours needs quiet, comfort and low stress

Omg props to u two for attempting to powering through even though baby girl was not having it! 👏🏽 We go camping a lot and started taking our Lo at 9-10mos but nearby-ish where we can retreat home if it takes a turn, which has happened. I used to fight him and try so hard to get him to nap (so he’s not overtired!!) but now i just let him go and get borderline delusional (lol as long as he’s not fussing). They like can’t sleep when they know they’re in a new environment esp w other people around. Anyway I put him to sleep in his car seat bc for some reason he likes that wayyy better than a playpen or tent or even bed?!? Idk why but it works he will knock out then after like an hour we transfer him to whatever we have set up. I know it’s easier to just avoid camping in general but I just wanted to try start early and get him used to it and it has. But there def is a period where you want to like not do it until they’re older lol just gotta power through and keep trying. Haha

I will NEVER forget the worst tantrum my first ever had. It made me not want to travel with him for at least a year afterward. I ended up not going on any trips (even weekend trips) again until my second baby was well past 2 years old (I was heavily pregnant with my second at the time)...so YEARS later. It really does take so much out of you when your kids are expressing themselves so strongly. There was nothing that would console him, it was so hard and TBH (dont care how dramatic this sounds) traumatic. Thankfully, when we DID finally take the chance and go on a weekend trip, both were SO great! We were even able to go to dinner without any meltdowns or anything...i felt like the world opened up or me once again. Give it time. Also, we have gone on camping trips.. and my 2 year old is still a bit too young to have an overall enjoyable experience (for everyone), runs off and needs constant monitoring..but my 4 year old was SO fun and had a BLAST!

What do you do to stay so fit? Did I hear crossfit in the vlog? I'm a year into my postpartum journey and I feel like I haven't lost any baby weight, and I still have a bulging tummy, it's so depressing. I'm scared of trying to change my diet (like cutting carbs) because I don't want to suddenly not be producing enough milk for my daughter as I want to keep breastfeeding for more than two years if possible. Did you make changes to your diet pretty early postpartum or did you wait a few months? x

We went on a family trip and thought it would be fun with just my husband, me and the kids. We didn’t rent cribs. Worst thing ever. Bedtime every night took hours. We rented cribs for the little ones and honestly that’s the best thing to ever do!

So once my youngest asked me if she could get a snack at checkout at Target on the way home from school. I said no because we live literally 5 minutes from Target and were having dinner as soon as we got back and she LOST IT. Screaming at the top of her lungs that I was starving her. I had to carry her out under one arm like a football. I was great...

Sometimes you just have to let the kiddo have their fits at that age because they have no other way to express their emotions. What helped me a lot with my son was that I taught him basic signs for sad, mad, tired, etc. so he could tell me. Kids are able to pick that up really quickly and it empowers them to be able to talk to us that way.

I can totally relate to!!!! My 8mo is currently teething and very fussy as well! We actually went on a trip last week to visit in-laws and went flying. The flight was ok but the whole time there all he wanted was me… I was hoping for a little break but that didn’t happen much… on another note have you tried ibuprofen instead of acetaminophen (Tylenol)? Ibuprofen (Motrin/Advil) is anti-inflammatory, so more recommended to also reduce the inflammation of the gums on top of reducing pain. That’s what I usually give my kids when teething.

🤣 my vacation experience gave me PTSD too. I was 2 months PP with baby #3. The 2 year old threw up in the car 30 mins after we hit the road. We were in stand still traffic for hours and I threw up in a trash bag while in the car. When we finally arrived after a 10 plus hour car ride, the 2 year old did NOT sleep at all that week. He continued to be sick all week. It was a nightmare. We were exhausted, not to mention I was waking up throughout the night to feed the baby. I’m not planning any family trips that far away until my youngest is at least 5. 🤣🤣

Oh I have a story. My 16mo son attended his first wedding last month and South Asian weddings are huge, lots of people, chatter and chaos. He started to act clingy the minute I started getting ready, tried distracting him with whatever options I could possibly think of but he kept clinging to my leg. My husband was busy too since it was his sister's wedding. And by the time I was ready, both my toddler and I were already drained. He even smudged my freshly applied nail colour and I was sobbing and removing the paint while he asked me what was wrong in his own language. Never saw me cry before. Cut to the end of wedding, he didn't stop crying THE WHOLE TIME. Kept pointing to the outsides. Didn't go to anyone except me or his dad. We took turns eating and holding him. Total PTSD episode

I wnna start by saying m just proud of you and matt for being such understanding great parents to Sage ♥️ m sure it was hard with a toddler not feeling alright but you guys made it 💪🏻 i once had a big family picnic and there were soooo many kids and toddlers and my baby is just 11 months so he was overwhelmed and was crying the entire time he refused to eat or nap or even lay on my chest like he was just DONE so i had to call it off and go back home ... weirdly enough he immediately slept at home then woke up with the best moods .. im not an expert this is my forst baby and m still learning but I figured that they need some time before they can actually go out and have fun instead of throw a tantrum.. the more you try with Sagyy the more she'll be having more fun and not cry and all .. besides teething of course kz that is painful AF but i feel like we should keep trying to take them camping and picnics until they are finally used to it .. other than that i believe every kid and every parent are doing their best to learn and we always end up listening to our kids and doing what makes them feel better without pressuring them ♥️♥️♥️ i luv u and ur videos ! Ur doing amazing work and i pray God to give you the best days and keep u and ur cute family happy always ♥️🙏🏻

I’m just counting down the days until the teeth are in and hoping we are at least through the worst of it before we leave for vacation in a few weeks. We have had a variety of experiences with travel. Most are good, but there have been some that have been challenging. We try and just have forward vision after a tough moment and remember it’s not hard every time, thankfully.

I have twin toddlers (boys) and it's hard when naps are involved too but we've just kept it to shorter trips away for now. It is hard when they're not feeling well though so it seemed like the best option was to come home for you! You're both doing a great job!!

Oh man. Yeah it’s a tough age my son is 3 now and still has major meltdowns but when he was Sage’s age whew. It’s very very draining. Hang in there!!!!

Thanks for sharing the raw and the real!!! Both my partner and I love camping and the outdoors, and we have a 3 month baby right now. We envision those memories of roasting marshmallows and what not like you said, but this video put it into better perspective that it may not always go how you envision. It’s dependent on their mood and feelings too!!

We went camping with a toddler (22 month old) recently as well. He was sick and it was an epic fail too. I commiserate with you!
