I love how she introduces herself as "Yuka Sato from Detroit Skating Club" and not "Yuka Sato, 1994 World Ladies' Figure Skating Champion and two-time Olympian."

I always wanted to learn the elements. Whenever i watch skate competitions, I'll be like a huh a jump, cant differentiate them 😌

So... Why don't you learn how to differentiate them? It's perfectly possible. Internet is available 😄

I liked how she showed the position of the vaulting leg - straight back. I think crossing to the inside is a cheat. Not all judges agree.

I actually can't imagine how you can jump with the toe directly straight back. The right skate needs to glide past the left toepick on an outside edge -- therefore, it makes sense that the toepick should be placed slightly on the inside of circle. At least, that's how Todd Eldridge teaches it at Great Park (Irvine, CA)

Exactly! I've just seen the gran prix in France... Shcherbakova has ridiculous Prerrotations in ALL of her jumps and still her score are over the top. 😆

This is not really a "how to" video but does have a few positive points. It shows an expert skater doing the toe loop at full speed and intensity, whereas most videos only demo it slowed down and exaggeratted. It shows the toe loop done in double and triple whereas most instructional videos don't show that. It has a few useful tips on dialing in the toe loop. And, most surprising, it gives a good reason on why you should lead with the heel, that reason being that it helps you get the needed rotation.

But today and also years ago before the quads-era we all jumped toe loop from a 3 turn. Why didn’t you say something about that?
@iceartist22

All that matters in a jump entrance is the edge on take-off. Whether you get to that edge from a 3 turn or a mohawk is not actually part of the jump. It is simply the skater's preference.

Maybe coach didn't mention it, but the demo skater did the 3 turn every time.

Dear ISU, why are you keeping rewarding skaters with ridiculous Prerrotations then?

If someone wants to learn, he will...if he approaches the jump and the elements superficially he will never learn, no matter how many times he sees it. These elements were explained time and time, over and over so this king of videos are kinda futiles. It is not as simple as forehand and backhand are in tennis. But ok... Make them.

So because someone already has an instructional video on toe loop on KZitem you think no one else should ever make any more?

@@TheLarryBrown if he is not going to say anything new... No... It's pointless. Than video's purposes is promotion of the individual person, not education.
