Thanks for sharing. In Chicago plumbers will installing toilets without any pipes in new construction. The installers would install pipes, get it inspected, then remove all of the pipes and install in the next unit. They would then bolt the toilet to the floor. No need for a wax ring. Took about a year for the property owners to find out as their tub begin sinking.

I pulled out my old toilet to replace the wax ring and found that I have a iron drain as well. the gap between the pipe and the slab foundation I thought was a bit to big but now that I see you do the flange I am thinking the gap wont be an issue. Have to wait till I do I remodel to fix it correctly. I have a drop in flange in there for now. Awesome videos!

I noticed the tile butted up to the vanity side. Vanity should have been removed when they tiled, so there aren't all these ugly edges. So either the owner was cheap or the tile guy was inexperienced. When ever I do a bath floor everything gets removed unless the tub stays. Then park the vanity and toilet on top of new tile, nice, no rough edges and places for water to pool. When you replace vanity and toilet in future, no need to replace floor. Common sense.

A home owner has got to be careful who they hire to do work. The plumber relies on the work that came before he got there. I mean he broke the tile, but he can't install the toilet without bolting down the flange so that hole had to be drilled. The only thing I can say is that on ceramic tile he could've used a regular drill and the bit might have gone through the tile even with the void without breaking it, but that's really hindsight. Either way he can't be responsible for all the workers who came before him.

Hi Steven, Just watched this 3+ year old video and part 1 also, better late than never I guess. Keep up the great work. I saw 2 things in this I have a question on if you could help an old plumber out with a few answers I would much appreciate it. 1st is the supply angle stop kit you used here. Looks like the chrome pipe sleeve (chrome on brass??) is a part of the supply valve and has a 5/8" ID so it slides tight over the 1/2" copper it solders to, is that correct? What brand (Brass Craft??) is it an what is it called? Have a model # for it? 2nd ..... In all your toilet videos you use your 2" PVC hand sucker pump to clear all the tank/bowl water before pulling toilets and was wondering if you could do a tear down video or one of how you engineered it and put it all together. Or is it a store bought hand pump? If so, where? Thanks for all your hard work making these vid's, Bob R.
Hey thanks Steven, Thanks for the valve info/links. Hope you can find the time to work on my 2nd question about your 2" PVC hand sucker pump; I think it would be some great video content. Bob R.
