I love that you mentioned the “off the beaten path” places. Those are my favorite places to see. Something that I would like to see is how to order and eat some foods. For example, the monjayaki. It sounds like some places in the USA where you walk through a buffet of raw ingredients (meat and vegetables), pick what you want, and give it to a chef to cook. Is that what it is?
@tokyokenchan
6 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching. As for Monja, you can choose your favorite one from the menu, and they bring it to your table before cooking. You can choose either cook by yourself on the table with pan, or they can cook for you. So it's pre set on the menu. Is that like Mongorian bbq? I don't think we have that kind of style at least for Japanese foods. :)

What a fantastic video Kengo, thats really amazing work and so valuable !!! I am only at number 50 and look forward to the other 50 recommondations. For conbinis, I like 7/11 for the curry pan, and the fried chicken at family mart. Other than that, I have no favorite, I just go to the nearest one. I like to try "strange" chips, noodle soups, snacks etc. at conbinis. A question concerning the public bath houses: is this like in most onsens in hotels, where men and women bath naked, in separate baths ?

I have now finished watching the video and I want to go back to Tokyo RIGHT NOW :-) ! THANK YOU SO MUCH !!! There are so many interesting and beautiful and crazy and tasty things to see, experience, try, eat, enjoy etc. in Tokyo. I think there is no right or wrong, everybody is different and will have different interests. Go for what appeals most to you, and be brave and try new things, or things that seem strange to you, thats part of the amazing Tokyo (at least for me). Tipp nr. 100 is the best, walk around and discover what turns up. When I am in Tokyo, I usually walk 20km or more per day. Some random favorites of mine: Shinjuku and especially Kabuchiko and Yomodo Okocho, even though I am absolutely not into nightlife. Yanaka, because its old and traditional Tokyo for me, with the cemetaries and small temples, old buildings, the tiny sake museum, the nice tiny tea or coffeeshops etc. Gachapon & vending machines & everything "crazy japanese", like Don Quijote. Shin-Okubo, because I love korean BBQ and panjeon. TeamLab Planets (I havent been to TeamLab Borderless yet, but look forward to it). Getting a platform ticket at Tokyo station, to watch the Shinkansen. Gotokuji temple, because of the cats, but also because of the nice neighbourhood. Hama Rikyu garden, because its beautiful, and its good to go there after eating at Tsukiji.
