The difference is the intonation. In hyōjungo it's あ↑り↓がとう (LHLLL) and in kansaiben it'sありが↑と↓う (LLLHL).

@@user-yuricyanko-channel That's just another word for it that is 関西弁 exclusive. But it's a little bit outdated. You can hear older people use it frequently here in Osaka but amongst younger people even the ones with heavy 関西弁 use don't really use it anymore.

Came here from Osaka’s accent from Azumanga Daioh! Ahhh now I know it’s trueee!!! I love her accent (not a Japanese nor do I speak Japanese). Also, I like when put ‘ya’ after the sentence or word🤍🤍💗

I notice that Osaka Dialect sounds aggressive than standard Japanese. I learned about different dialects from Shinskue Nakamura a wrestler from Kyoto and Asuka a women’s wrestler from Osaka

Not strictly Aomori but the western half, Hirosaki-ben city. Hachinohe-ben (eastern half) is not as drastically different.

These Osaka expressions aren't taught but they show up in anime a lot. I rarely use them but I can understand them. Other Japanese dialects don't show up in anime and I can't understand them at all.

Don't think so, the overwhelming majority of the vobulary is shared, just some expressions are different and some vocab is Kansai dialect-specific. With 好き they highlighted the different particle usage with だよ and やねん and with ありがとう they wanted to show the difference in intonation (pitch accent). A lot of words are pronounced with different pitch in Kansai dialect than in standard Japanese. Here are some examples, with standard Japanese first and Kansai dialect second: 先生: せ↑んせ↓い・せ↓んせい トマト: と↓まと・と↑ま↓と 日本: に↑ほ↓ん・に↓ほん ありがとう: あ↑り↓がとう・ありが↑と↓う

I first heard of the Kansai dialect from our almighty Papa Franku or for all seriousness Joji since he was born and raised in Osaka until I notice a difference between Tokyo and Kansai dialect and accents and that its not the only dialect differences in Japan.

Yessss. And also ishigaki senpai from Kyo fushi, the 3rd year who has retired. I thought his Kansai Ben was so nice and rhythmic to listen to. TBH, yowamushi pedal has a lot more Kansai dialect compared to most anime.

I was raised in French Canada by a mom from Wakayama (kansai-ben) and a Canadian father who learned Japanese in Tokyo (tokyo-ben). I'm a weird mix of both dialects that confuses the locals when I go to visit my family in Japan lol
