@Paul B 2007 was pretty much the last full year when MySpace was the social networking site to be, and when I finally gave in, and joined it too. Bummer I didn't do so sooner, when I would have had more time to be on the site when it's popularity was at it's peak. Many people were still using it in 2008, as it was still the most popular social network in the United States (if not North America) as well. 2009 you can say was when it really began to go downhill to the point of no return, while 2010 was when the site pretty much officially became dead, when they did the initial (and horrible revamp) late that year also.

I never understood why so many people hated Myspace. I spent so much time building my page, I thought that was awesome how you could totally customize it. It's like every person had their own website. I guess they were too stupid to understand basic HTML. Tom rules, because he knew that Myspace was about to lose popularity right when Facebook was just starting to become big, and sold it at the absolute perfect time.

Now it's used for bullying, ads and everything it was not intended for.

Me too, and late 2007 was when I finally gave in, and joined the site, which was the very tail end of the peak of it's then massive popularity. MySpace was still relevant in 2008, along with 2009 to an extent, but was also when Facebook began to overtake it as the social networking site to be. 2010 was pretty much the true final year when MySpace had anything even close to resembling significance, until it's (un)official death knell occurred when the site revamp happened late that year. That of which totally killed off the very last of what made it so great, along with what little was left of it's diehard fan/userbase.

MyckelJay If Facebook allowed the opportunity for each person to have a separate page to introduce HTML would be the next big thing but the problem with HTML and Scripts is that many people abuse them and try to incorporate malicious codes. Another problem is that when people added too much HTML code effects, one person who is running a fast machine will see everything perfectly but a person who owns a slow machine will have the page lag very badly. It’s one of the main reasons why Facebook kept the approach of keeping things as simple as possible so everything can run as smoothly as possible.

By 2009, MySpace was still very popular, but an unknown network named twitter popped out of nowhere(I also have a short rant about it on my channel) and quickly took over in the summer of that year, and it pretty much helped facebook take over everything and it seems to be no end to it

Many people were/are disappointed with the fact that one couldn't decorate his or her own profile page. Yet, that was one of the problems of MySpace--users had way too much freedom with wallpapers, glittery graphics and animations, and video posts, thus crashing many people's web browsers. I wish people still used myspace! I mean facebook is OKAY but I miss designing my own profile! It was so fun choosing my background, pictures and songs! Facebook profiles are BORING!

MySpace is still being use by a good number of people. However, it is no longer as famous as before. Maybe, social networks are just like that - they have their glory days and they will all soon face the time when they are already forgotten and so close to being shut down.

Myspace was actually one of the pioneers of the social networking phenomenon. Sixdegrees was the first social networking site, and then myspace came along as was a instant overnight success. At one point it had over 1 billion people signed up. But those numbers droped about 2007ish, when facebook started to dominate. Facebook pretty much stole the idea from myspace, but why facebook is more popular nowadays is because its more user friendly and simpler then myspace.
