@leighsaunderson9203

Yep. Could be almost complete and lose someone and couldn't help but restart. Game had reall atmosphere and feel to it, and the music was a BIG part of that,wether it was the main tunes or the incidental stuff. I did get Siege last year in the Steam sale but didn't actually try playing it until last week, actually quite enjoying it compared to the previous arcadey incarnations, but still wish we could have the original just redone with current engine, planning phase included. Currently trying to get R6 to play nicely on Win10, even just watching the intro and hearing the main menu music is nostalgia!

It's only about spectacle that can be shown in a video short enough for a zoomer to watch and garbage "competitive" (actually nobody cares but it means streamers) and moba (feminine character design and cosmetic money) or BR type crap (because streamers = free advertising). Tactics take time and planning and the satisfaction can't be displayed in a short clip usually. Back when this game came out, there was no real video/tv media coverage of PC gaming at all so you had to read actually read a relatively lengthy review, so you could more easily sell people on tactics and strategy and slower paced games.

1. Ding Chavez was actually the surviving sniper from the spec ops team in the novel & movie "Clear and Present Danger", by Tom Clancy of course. 2. The assignment of dynamic classical music (sort of modified Baroc-Roccoco) as BGM for special operations started with the movie "The Rock", starred by many prominent actors and actress of the mid to late 90's. Its soundtrack was composed by none other than Hans Zimmer himself. And it all made me feel like I am actually on duty to save humanity every time I played the classic Rainbow Six series.

Track 20, the mission failure theme, is pretty unnerving, like a horror movie. And given what would happen to the world in this game if Rainbow lost, it fits (for those who don't know, end of humanity by virus) Tack 21, played when a team member is killed, almost sounds like "the last post" which is played traditionally at military funerals. Fitting given the circumstances. It's mournful.

Bill Brown knew how to make music that oozed specforce discipline and strategic/tactical planning. There was also a degree of emotional optimism and respect. He also knew how to make a killer anthem (which he did a lot for Ghost Recon 1). New tactical games just use edgy synth. I don't think they get this stuff, I think they just parody it and try to capture it superficially. They treat it like it's all cinematically Hollywood and dudes with skull masks rather than a career/profession of top operators. And you see it in the games too--we've gone from realistic/plausible operators to anime waifu girls and meme guys in dad shorts or cringey painted ballistic masks. Red Storm knew what was up. Ubi is a kids' toy company, but Red Storm had vision.
