Ghost notes (on the snare drum) are the key here to make it sound so fluid. I'm the kind of drummer that like to "fill it up" and play a lot of notes and this groove you've come up with is really good! Thumbs up from me! :)

Cool groove. The snare ghosts on 3 took a lil getting used to for me. I'd like to see a couple of the ones u made with more toms as I have 2 rack and 2 floor. I actually have a fifth lil baby 8 inch tom too but I took down cause I couldn't get my ride where I wanted it with it up. Thanks for ideas.

Hey Adam, great lesson. What made you come up with this groove pattern? (besides the fact of having multiple toms) I'm more interested in not why a drummer plays what they play, but how they to think up the pattern. Perhaps it was the melody of the outgoing track?
@AdamTuminaro
9 жыл бұрын
Great question! The melody of this Loop was a fun coincidence, but the construction of the pattern comes from the "words" that were used. How do you come up with your sentences in English? You use words that you've already learned. Same thing applies to drums! The more words you know, the easier it becomes to build your sentences.
@rhythmantic

+Adam Tuminaro Makes sense and thanks so much for your quick reply & inspiring insight. Your explanation brings to mind Bennie Greb's teaching.
