Here's a quick example of what a $180 Million dollar plot gets you. Jedi Cop: "We're pretty sure this girl killed a Jedi Master... not gonna read her mind and find out for certain, that would be cheating... but we're pretty sure. Put her on a prison ship with one droid guard." Other Jedi Cop: "Why don't we just take her with us? Aren't you worried someone who's strong enough to kill a JEDI MASTER will escape such a barely defended ship? Are we at least going to follow along in case something happens?" Jedi Cop: "Naw, it'll be fine." Spoiler: Wasn't fine.

2:11 no ben, that's the complete opposite when it comes to nerd media. Everything has to be perfect otherwise it's garbage. It's just very clear that the general public and less intense fans of star wars don't want to watch jedi stuff, they want to see things like mando and andor. Which of course is fine and so Disney should be working on making them better and faster imo I personally have a gripe with that myself simply because the most interesting part to me in star wars is the force powers and users, I don't really care about bounty hunters or the empire or anything like that because I could watch that exact same thing with maybe a different aesthic in other shows.

I think the main problem with the Acolyte is there just... isn't really a plot. They keep setting up something that you could spend a whole season exploring (Jedi murder mystery, training under Sith Lord, ect) Only to barely even explore it and wrap it up in just an episode, shoehorning in some new plot element for the next episode instead of having a through-thread. It's not so bad for the first half of the series, it's actually quite enjoyable, but in the second half it's just a constant state of "okay, wtf are we doing here now? Why are they acting like this?"

The fights were good, the characters, main or otherwise, dying was surprising, but also random. The most interesting character was a little the hamster guy who does end up doing some random shit because reasons, but at least he had a general purpose. There were no stakes as all loose ends conveniently tied themselves up for the Jedi to explain all the nonsense to the Senate. Darth Jianyu gets his apprentice/Acolyte, the only happy ending. 6/10

I liked the basic plot but yeah they just spent way too little time on fundamentals like characterization. To the point I just found for instance the villain reveal just funny because it just had absolutely zero impact. For the same reason a lot of character actions felt like they just happened because the plot needed it. Still alright overall. Didn't hate it. Might have been good even if they had 45 minute episodes and 12 of them.

There are some people who have made hating new Star Wars their whole thing. They're not acting in good faith, which is why they focus on the weird, inconsequential minutiae like Ki-Adi Mundi, and they're very loud. Which is annoying since a lot of what they're complaining about has actual issues you can critique! RoS was a mess of a film! TLJ, which I actually largely liked, has some absurdly weird pacing issues!

@@Crazyboe 5/10 doesn't mean "average". 5/10 means "perfectly halfway from best to worst". If you have a huge number of incredibly good movies, the average could be 9/10. If you have a huge number of incredibly bad movies, the average could be 1/10. Currently, for big blockbuster movies released in the past few years, I'd say the average sits at around 7 out of 10. @@ian8477 I didn't hate them just disappointed in wasted potential, Boba Fett felt a bit lost story wise, the sand people stuff excluding, but he wants to be a crime lord, but a nice crime lord like why not just run for mayor or something it would have made more sense. Obi Wan could have looked at him having survivors guilt by being one of the few remaining Jedi or looked at how he dealt with essentially being the one to train the person who killed everyone and everything he knew, but instead it went with little Leia and it just sort of made it forgettable.
