Can we all take a moment to appreciate how awesome Tom is for putting the long list of species in the description? Awesome video, certain videos of yours always bring me back. I'm curious if you've gotten any new pamphobeteus species since this? My local store has a Nigricolor that I've been eyeing and I had to save up for it so hopefully they have it still. Unfortunately there aren't that many informational videos on KZitem though. I feel like many species have very similar care per genus though, but I still feel anxious sometimes even though I know it's an irrational worry. (I can check the good ol boards of course but youtube is always where I start.) I feel absolutely ridiculous for this but there are no words to describe how bummed I get if Tom, TTC, Birdspiders etc don't have any husbandry videos on the species I'm considering. 😅

Hello, Zulema! hahaha Well, you're most welcome! I have to do another one of these soon to show off the new room. And I have P. antinous, P. sp. arana pollito, and P. sp. duran right now. I would keep yours the same as any Pampho. Slings and juvies will dig, so give them some deep moist sub. Adults may do a bit of digging too (my pollito and duran both still dig as adults) so you may want to give them a hide and several inches of sub. I give mine a water dish when they are older and moisten down the sub and let it dry out a bit in between. They are really quite hardy and easy to care for. :)

Hey buddy! First of all. I wanna say that i really didn't know how many special family members you had lol. Nice group of T's and scorpions you have my friend. How do you handle of these responsibilities in your head along with other things you do? I know i couldn't manage what you have in your collection and i just have 12 species of my own. I applaud you Tom for all you do and provide here on youtube and great info you have given me in general. As i have told you before. I never and mean never would have thought about getting into this hobby. I didn't know it existed period. Now i do and i am just a simple novice at this along with my son who is way to young to understand it but he see's how much interest i have for it now. I can't see myself having this many T's but a few more i would love to have in my collection though, lol. Tom, thanks for a great video and sharing you home up to all of us. Hey, Michael! Man, I don't think I appreciated how many animals I have until I made that video. haha. Thanks so much! I REALLY enjoy working with them, and I find the feeding/maintenance to be very relaxing, especially after a long day of work. So, it's really easy for me to veg out for a couple hours here and there to work with them. I've always got something going on in that room. Heck, I did 12 rehousings last weekend. :) I honestly didn't ever think I'd have so many either. I had originally planned on 30 or so. Be careful, bud...it's an addictive hobby! The blog and then the KZitem channel led me to keep buying new and cool species so I could talk about them. That's my excuse at least. What’s funny is I keep saying to him that you need to start watching some videos with me. But he never does lol I appreciate the passion and interest you have for this hobby. Thanks Tom - appreciated, your collection is looking superb, however I didn't see any Earth Tigers - Ornithoctoninae - Omothymus, Lampropelma, love the Omothymus genus, I have an O. schioedtei - looking stunning, I think (as they are so reclusive) that she almost doubled her DLS - I am erring on the side of female as she has no green to her, which I'm lead to believe means I have a female, hopefully. Brilliant spider room, is that the same room you have now? My house is quite small, its the upstairs of a house, made into flats. Has it's own front door & garden tho. Anyway I have a small room, like a box room. It's too big for a cupboard but too small for a bedroom. It has a light, window, electricity sockets & some built in shelfs. I'm trying to empty it, paint it & then put new shelfs in. Then take a gaming chair in & it will be a mini Spider room. I cant wait as my Spideys are all around the living room. Im going to have all my enclosures, true spiders too, equipment and live food in it. Will be amazing as I can shut the door to keep cats & dogs out while I feed & rehouse xx

Rofl excellent video love when you and Billy make me laugh. A lot of cheesy jokes but they are great. Beautiful collection. Makes me jealous a bit. I go through Tetris also when rehousing always fun. I noticed some of your racks are like mine. Did you have to reenforce the wood shelves? I find mine are starting to bow a lil bit. I was thinking of having stronger wood cut to size.

Hahahahaha. Thanks so much, Christine! It's probably a good thing that we lost part of the video, because we got REALLY goofy on that take. We were both very tired and getting punchy at the end. lol And it's funny that you mention those wood shelves. I've been kind of waiting for them to bend. I noticed one of them JUST starting to droop a bit. I will likely cut some stronger stuff for them.

Wow great collection. Mine is probably only 1/10th the size. One I would recommend for your collection if you haven't gotten one yet is the Sericopelma sp. "Chica". They're new to the hobby, but not overly expensive usually around $50 or so. Common name I think I saw was the "Chocolate Stout" when I did some Google searching for some care advise, but when they're new to the hobby you basically make up the care sheet for everyone else. :P Good thing is they are very hardy and mine seems to prefer the moist side of the substrate. They're terrestrial and don't really web up anything at all, but mine has always been out in the open so I feel it would make for a good show case spider. Mines been skittish and surprisingly curious whenever I open up to feed it or give it some water, but when it comes to feeding its as aggressive if not more so then my GBB. It will teleport from one side of its enclosure to another to catch its prey. Also it has one of the most energetic happy dances out of my entire collection. As for growth rate I've had my sling since May of this year and it's molted twice in my care going from roughly a 1/2 inch to 3/4 of an inch so I'd say maybe a medium growth rate.

Speaking of Repticon, do you ever goto conventions/shows looking for tarantulas and other inverts?

Lovely collection! I spotted two balfouri butts poking out the other day. I love those breeding boxes! Gonna have to make some terrestrial enclosures..but so far no "special terrestrial" (well some are in tubs). And yeah the water dish fillers. My Stirmi has been out and about doing it! But she is skittish n doesn't appreciate my efforts😀 (phormictopus can be notorious n A gens)

Tom Moran No. I already have the gp. He's had himself barricaded in for almost two weeks now. He's a tiny little booger. He's hopefully molting. I'm getting a Eulthus species red and a avic braunshauseni Tues. First avic I've had. I'm really nervous about both of them. The Eulthus species red is only 1/4 in I believe. Hard to feed from what I have heard from some. Yup, that's how you know your better half loves you when they work all day and then spend loads of time holding a camera for you, lol. Hold onto her fr 🤗😂

Whoops! Misread that! Three of my gps started off as tiny slings, and they all buried themselves during the winter. It used to freak me out. The first two I raised took almost 7 months off eating the first year I had them. Don't be surprised if your little one pops out in April ready to eat. That's what mine did! :) And that's for sure! haha. We've been together for 24 years, so I think we've decided to hold on to each other. :)

Hey Tom, great stuff as usual! Always wanted to see your full collection, thanks for sharing. Regarding your unidentified B.albiceps. I can say with much certainty that it is not B.albiceps. I have raised two of them thus far, and the golden carapace is quite prevalent even in the early stages. Mine started sporting it at around the 2'' mark. Unfortunately looks to be B.vagans, as you thought. Must have been some kind of mislabeling mistake, hopefully whoever sold it to you can make it right.

We are in no sense sick of your phormictopus collection. Don't stop featuring them! Hardly anybody else does. My P. sp. "gold carapace" is growing leaps and bounds, but my "full green" has been a slow starter. Did you notice anything similar with species differentiation initially? It is a little bit smaller. Is it possible that they hit periods of slower growth and periods of exponential growth as they develop?
@TomsBigSpiders
6 жыл бұрын
Hahahahaha! Thanks, bud...good thing, too, as my latest video features them as well. I can't comment on the "gold carapace", as I sadly don't have one yet, but my greens have been growing at a decent pace. Not as fast as some of my others, like P. cancerides, that's for sure. I've found that most grow very quickly until they hit about the 4-5" mark, then they slow down a great deal. My sp. blue took over a year to molt after she hit 6".

Hey, Your Mother! I think I explained this somewhere else, and I probably should have put notes on the video. The carpet python was being treated for mites, and I took all of the furnishing and substrate out of her enclosure until I could eradicate them. I got mites back in the day, and I found that they can hide in the furnishings, especially the naturalistic stuff. And, as I was using Provent Mite, I wanted to use as little as possible.
