Transform the Starcruiser into an add-on dinner + escape room show like medieval times, boom, no more overnight staff, no more hotel issues, and they already have the box trucks to make it happen.

It would’ve been cool if alongside with Back to the Future, they had E.T. or Jaws, or if they wanted a current franchise, they could do Harry Potter or Nintendo. There’s so much material in these IPs, that you could create your own story with it

Universal is starting to hit the mark. Your praise for Back the the Future gives me hope that they’re doing Epic Universe right, especially when they’ve *increased* budgets instead of slashing them like we’re all accustomed to.

Couldn't agree more on all your points on the Jurassic room. You said it perfectly. It felt cheap at times. The "puzzles" were more than boring.

Why they didn’t incorporate a full dinosaur animatronic or puppetry into the Jurassic World rooms for some light scares escapes me. Pun intended. Some thriller elements are allowed, the Jurassic Park ride is allowed to be scary sometimes.

It’s absolutely ridiculous that they don’t have a dinosaur, not even a statue! I was shocked for Back to the future, you don’t see the Time Machine, Biff, Marty, or Doc. I know you see his “shadow” but come on! Universal really shows how cheap they are with this. These both felt like they would be free walkthroughs at the hotels.

Just did the BttF room tonight. They'd had a technical issue and were running about 30 minutes behind. We didn't know about this until the safety briefing. They were very willing to accommodate us if it was an issue, but we and the other group we'd be going through it with were fine with waiting. It was worth it. As an almost life-long BttF fan (also a weirdo who likes Part III the most), it was just excellent! It hit me much like it did Tom. My wife and son like the films, but not as much as I. And they loved it too. I completely have the same feeling that through this experience the Ride is alive again.

BTTF: The ride was unfortunately before my time. I was alive when it was Around but it closed years before I went to universal for the first time. Being a fan of BTTF, I watch the first 2 religiously…. This will always be one of the coolest things I’ve ever done, and one of the coolest things universal has done. I haven’t done Jurassic world yet, but even if the great escape closes in a few years, I’m grateful that they brought back something for BTTF.

“ A fight broke out last month at Universal City Walk’s Great Movie Escape attraction. According to sources, the fight started when the fathers of the families got in a disagreement over who would sit in the driver seat of the model Delorean. Sources also reported the eldest sons of each family were offered up as tribute to fight in the parking lot outside the Enchantment Under the Sea Dance set. According to police reports both families have been banned for life.”

As a fan of the JP/JW franchises, I feel like everything in the land at islands of adventure already checks a lot of the boxes as far as that emotional appeal and connection (rides, the music, raptor encounter, etc.). Another franchise like BTTF that didn't already have a big presence in the nearby parks might've been better. But yeah there were probably more corporate fingerprints on the Jurassic one.

We did the Jurassic World room on Saturday and had a great time. We went with our daughter who just turned 10 and had 2 others in the room with us for a total of 5, which I think was the perfect amount. The attraction/ room was cool but lacked Dino theming if you didn't tell me its was Jurassic park/world I wouldn't have known and just assumed we were in a science lab. We had never done an escape room this was our 1st time and we enjoyed it. The difficulty level was good enough outside of the 1st room everything was challenging. 2 rooms we were clueless on and had to just move on without really solving anything. We definitely want to go back to do the BTF room, the vibe of the lobby is cool, drinks were decent, but as someone who visited the Groove plenty of times in its heyday you can still see remnants of the old nightclub, but its cool for nostalgia. We recommended this experience to anyone looking for something new to do at Universal.

@@tomm2213 our 10yr year old daughter got a little scared in 1 of the rooms because the "power" was going out and loud noises. But outside of that room, nothing more than a few loud dino sounds here and there. I would put it on par as far as " scary" with the MUMMY Ride @ Universal. If your kids can handle that ride they should enjoy it.

Hi Tom, thank you for making an honest review. I also grew up going to Universal Studios since it opened and have a deep seated sentimentality about the original rides. I’m thinking of booking a private room bc I’m going to be a party of 3 and am a little concerned about how strangers would impact my experience. I’m glad you addressed that in the video. I’m really hoping that I get to experience the BTTF room. Thanks again for an honest and informative video 👍🏻😄

I’m not a big escape room guy so I don’t think I’ll do it unless maybe a friend or a family member would want to do it other than that I’ll probably just walk by it. And yeah I think that they could throw in a animatronic or two in the Jurassic World room if it’s the way you say it is especially at the end. Thanks for the video sir.

The difference between the two is that nobody cares about Jurassic World on an emotional level, because it was a franchise entirely created for money instead of passion. Same with Disney Star Wars, these things are glaringly apparent for fans. I'm sure you would've been able to tell if the creators of the Back to the Future attraction didn't really care about it.

I finally did this experience last night for my birthday and WOW what a disappointment. It was so bad. Which sucks because back to the future is legit my favorite film ever. Guys, check out the google reviews. Basically all 1 star reviews (there’s like 60 of them) It was a huge let down. Literally I feel scammed. Nothing against you Tom! Still a great video and review on your end. I do not recommend, I’ll be surprised if this is around for 6 more months tbh.

Same. This was so disappointing for the price. $25 is about all it's worth. It is no better than any other escape room out there. In fact, I would say there are much better ones for alot less money. There was no real budget put into these rooms, they feel very cheap for the price you pay and the fact that these are Universal rooms.

We did the Back to the Future game today - Too hard! They do have a scoring system now. We finished 7 of the 15 puzzles. But it was deflating to get interrupted when working on a tough puzzle and rushed along to the next room. Overall I say 7/10 experience. Great theming and plot, but too rushed of game play and too difficult of puzzles.

I'm firmly of the mindset that Jurassic Park isn't a franchise, it's a perfect movie with lousy sequels and a lousier crop of reboots. I grimaced and rolled my eyes when Jurassic World was announced to be part of the Great Movie Escape, simply because I knew it was a corporately mandated choice because those movies made tons of money. Obviously concessions had to be made to get Back to the Future, a trilogy of movies that hasn't had any sort of new media entry since the Telltale game in 2010, put into the attraction, and that concession was Jurassic World. Here's hoping we get a Ghostbusters adventure replacing Jurassic World.
