I did like the video!! I was introduced to Rush when I was about your age and they are still my favorite band. Why?? 3 REALLY talented musicians. Great songwriting & great lyrics. Drums are good, YES! Neil Peart is considered one of the best ever. He was inspirational to many metal/prog drummers including Danny Carey. Unfortunately, Neil died of a brain tumor a few years ago. more RUSH please. How about YYZ live in Rio???

Thanks for checking out Rush. I recommend "Spirit of Radio" from the previous album to Moving Pictures, the album Permanent Waves has Spirit of Radio. I first saw them live in 1979. Then after Spirit of Radio, please choose to hear 2112. It came out in 76. EPIC JOURNEY FOR THE EARS, and mind.👍👍

This is a classic and one of their most radio-friendly songs. The book ' The Adventures of Tom Sawyer' was written by Mark Twain in the 1800s and tells the story of the adventures Tom has as a boy growing up along the Mississippi River. In the song, the lyrics describe a 'modern-day warrior', so I've always thought that they were describing a sort of rebellious character who does his own thing. Rush is an interesting band: They are all very talented on their instruments. The singer, Geddy Lee, is also the bassist (one of the best in rock music) and keyboardist. Geddy and the guitarist, Alex Lifeson, first met in junior high school at age 13 and have been best friends ever since. Alex has many emotional and soulful guitar solos. When Rush first started in 1968, they had a different drummer, John Rutsey. John played drums on Rush's first album that came out in 1974. He quit the band and then Neil Peart, who you se in this video, joined. He is considered one of the best percussionists in rock music. The other two also noticed he liked to read, and asked him if he wanted to write lyrics for the band, so he did. Rush lasted until 2015, when Neil decided to retire. In 2020, Neil passed away from brain cancer. Geddy and Alex have only performed together four time since then, all for tribute shows. At least we have 40 years of great Rush songs! For a future reaction, I suggest checking out the music video for 'Limelight.'

The best multi-instrumentalist 3 piece band on the planet. Geddy Lee (vocals bass keys) plays everything all at once at times, but never misses a beat. Hi Metal Teen! Rush is an atypical band in many ways, as you will find out. The more you hear, the more you will like. The pedals are just a trigger for any sound you want while your hands are busy. Geddy uses them for keeping a bass line going.

The "keyboard pedals" are just an extension of the synth. So you can trigger keys while your hands are busy playing guitar. Hooked up via MIDI cable to the synth. I was in a couple RUSH tribute bands and did bass & synth & floor keys all at once. Not easy!!

Geddy uses the foot pedals in two ways - to kick off midi triggers, and occasionally he has them programmed like keys so he can play simple keyboard parts while simultaneously using his hands to play the bass part. It is more impressive in live performance.

_"Those drums are really good."_ Yes. Yes indeed they are. 😀 There may not be universal agreement as to whether or not that Neil is the greatest drummer who ever lived, but I bet even those misguided souls who don't rank him as #1, still put him in their top 5.

The drummer is Neil Peart. Sadly he is no longer with us. He is considered by many to be the top rock drummer ever, though I consider him as the equal of John Bonham (Led Zeppelin). He is also the lyricist for Rush and was quite a profound thinker. I'd recommend listening to their Spirit of Radio.

I have a favor to ask and it needs to happen in a specific order. Please listen to and react to the Rush song Subdivisions. However, do not look up the release date of the song before you listen to it. I have a theory that any person around your age can hear it and identify with the lyrics regardless of the age of the song. You would be an excellent person to test my theory. If you would like, please try it.
