Crumbs---the snare sounds incredible. SO classy. And what marvellous playing. Quite superb! (BTW: loved the cymbals---especially the ride. What were they?) Very happy Christmas!

Turns out these are Paiste 602's that were Jeff Porcaro's personal backup cymbals. They were picked out as duplicates for the Cymbals Jeff would later use for the majority of his recording sessions for the rest of his short life. The idea was to have a backup. Paul Jamison bought them at the same factory visit in Switzerland with the guidance of Jeff. Jeff never used them because, unlike many drummers of his era, he never broke one! I was lucky to purchase the cymbals from Paul. These cymbals range from 85' to 87' (when they were touring with TOTO.)

This is a word that I seldom have the opportunity to use but it applies in this case, that word is “superb”!

Ha! That 602 ride sounds very very different from my older black label one. I'm quite confused and surprised.

Nice playing. How come you don’t use that many cymbals or play like that with Cloud Nyne? 🤣

Actually, I shot the Video before I completed (Changed) the drum. Yes, I replaced them with Remo Ambassadors and REAL Puresound Snares AND 3mil Heavy Gibraltar Triple flange hoops. That is the drum I demonstrated.Sorry for the confusion.

@@venableman Regardless ,great crack and snap. I modified a DW NOB using 3 mm Tru Hoops and a Trusonic snare carriage. Interesting sound ,but it weighs a ton. You can check it oy on my KZitem channel if you're curious..

@@cpu554 Those DWs tend to be a little hefty. I have the New Carbon Fiber 6.5x14.. Sounds great!
